    Smile Newbie (Fitgit)

Got my learner licence today! I've spent a grand total of 38 minutes on a motorbike in my entire life and now I'm allowed to ride on the road... scary. I think I'll go to my mates farm and ride around there a bit on his bike before playing in the traffic.

Thinking about buying a bike is giving me a headache, so many options and such little knowledge.

My preference is a sports bike, I saw a Honda VTR250 on Trademe for $6500 which I'd like to check out. 2003 model, one lady owner and 15,000 km. Wadda ya reckon?

Good to see you doing what the vast majority would never consider! Riding two wheels of freedom!

Now, if you want to find a bike ... try a nice little ol'Hornet, plenty of buzz and a real sweet ride to boot! If you want any info, drop me a line and I'll sock it to you!

Welcome to the nut farm Fitgit!!

As for bikes.. spend a day or 2 & go round all the bike shops you can find. Sit on as many as you can, & get a 'feel' of what style you like, & go from there!

Good idea about riding round on a farm for a while to get some practice in!! 'Off road' riding can do a hell of a lot for your 'on road' riding abilities!!

If there's any way you can arrange it.. do one of these..

or find something similar where you live!

Also, check out the Mentors list on here, & see if there are any near you! They are experienced riders who can offer you a wealth of knowledge & help with riding skills!!

Safe riding Fitgit!! & welcome to the wonderful world of FREEDOM!!!!

    Jen

PS: I'm with Poos on that one.. buy a SUZUKI!!!!

Ahoihoi to the site. I'm a seasoned pro here (refer post count). I was the same as you last year. Learned to ride up Aro Valley in Wton, where the guy from trademe dropped my bike off. Intense.

And yeah, suzuki. Although not sure if my GN counts (GN's are the cheapest of the cheap). You sound like you have more money than I did. And do.
To split or not to split, that is the question
