They may not stop the leg rotation/bending but they will restrict it compared to how much you'd get without them.
For adventuring I use cheapie fox knee/shin guards as they're more comfortable and less bulky.

Just started using a Thor neck roll (formed/contoured foam) for adventuring (it arrived the day after my last race) and I like it so far.
It limits how much side/fore/aft helmet movement you get and is light and comfortable so I'm more likely to use it.
    But...
It means I can't ride with my jacket collar up and it's getting cold now
So the Thor Force is not comfortable enough for adventure riding?

    Too bulky.

If they were the only ones I had then I'd be happy using them but I've also got the lightweight Fox kneeguards.

i wear the leatt every time i'm on the bike now and it does not worry me one bit.
i also wear the thor guards every time on bike too and i love them, i just use a small piece of cotton behind top of my knees as it can sort of cut in a bit but i really do like them.
i got them from scott ( mr motorcycles) and have been happy as.

He did. The injury happened April 2007, he let it heal and finally got the doctors clearance to ride about 10 months ago.

    Just for everyone's info -

I was wearing a pair of the Alpinestars knee 'pads' (they are hinged and strap to your leg above and below the knee) when I went down a few weeks back. They did little if anything to stop my knee bending sideways. Now I'm having to join the queue for a ligament op and not sleeping well etc. I want my next set to be the ultimate protection as I'd rather spend my weekends riding than limping!

I'm curious if anyone knows of a decent knee brace set that DOSEN"T flex sideways at all?

Has anyone tried the podmx? It looks good on the website etc.

Unless you go for carbon you are going to get a bit of flex.

As TA said, over a year ago now. Most of the time it is OK but sometimes get a bit of pain. Suspect I'm going to get reminders for the rest of my life. Surprisingly when motorcycling I pretty much don't notice it at all. Its normally more annoying when sitting in a office and turning around to talk to somebody.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope you get it sorted soon, cause not being able to sleep sux! Have a look over in the Off road section. BuddyL posted in this thread that he isn't that happy about the podmx braces.

    Cheers R

I cut the knees out of a pair of cheap thermal long johns and wear those under my old proride hinged kneepads - works really well at stopping straps cutting in etc.

Re knee braces - surely if your knee doesn't flex when twisting or being bent sideways something else will take the strain - perhaps a bone or hip. is it not like shifting bottlenosed traffic?
