    Argh!!!

Well damnit. Thought I would go and grab subway for lunch, knew it was a bad idea. Had just got it and was on my way home.

Coming down a street with a nice right hand bend in it, always take it at 50kph, was pretty sure I was going a bit slower than that today, then all of a sudden CRASH!!!

Lost the front end, and slid to a stop in the gutter. My bike went a bit further and hit the curb and a power pole gently. Stuffed my knee but everything else is sweet, leather jacket and gloves did their trick. Jeans got cut to shreds but knee was only lightly grazed (yeah I know I should have been wearing my leathers).

Bike is a bit worse off, right fairing and front fairing are stuffed. Exhaust, engine cover and all the right side stuff is bent and or scratched. Mirror and indicator broke off. Lucking the tank and rear fairing isnt touched at all. Had a look at the piece of road where I dropped it and there was some oily substance, which I think caused it, as well as the cold tyres.

Oh well, didn't get too badly injured and taught me a lesson. Rode the bike home sweet as, but wont ride it again till I sort everything out.

    Take care out there guys.

Glad you are OK... Sounds like a diesel / coolant / oil spill of some sort.

About time we started tracking these f/wits down and fining them...

Of course the official view is that you were going too fast...

Expensive lesson but glad the gear held up and you are OK...

sorry to hear about your accident, although it's good nothing was too badly damaged on your bike and you didn't wreck yourself either!, you should find out what the oily substance on the corner was because the chances are a few people will have accidents because of it.

Geez don't you just hate it when that happens. At least the bike didn't land on top of you! Good to know that both you and the bike are still rideable.

Yeah, it must have been oil or something like that. Was a patch about the size of a cd or 2. Not too big, just big enough for me to ride through. As I said, i was doing around 40kph, but probably still would have fallen doin 20kph. But I can't change anything now, just look for sympathy I guess

Yea K14. Maybe you should just get fiberglass fairings and race your CBR.

Nah, the CBR isnt powerful enough to race. Looking for a RGV or TZR though. Will get that sorted out in summer when I have a job. Just a bit for clubmans and maybe F3.

If you want a TZR, I can sell you my one. It's a 1987 though so not sure if that's what you were looking for. I have put good tires on it (sports demons that are still fairly new), replaced the saggy rear shock with a better second hand one, replaced head bearings, replaced sprokets/chain, replaced wheel bearings, bought new BSR braided brake lines. Replaced brake pads. I have always used the best 2 stroke oil money can buy.

You need to change the rings on it fairly soon.

    $700 as is!

If just a little oil can do that, how about the 4km long oil trail I followed on the way to work? A big smear across the lane every 2m, and more on the outside of corners and at braking/acceleration points. It petered out just before work, probably the guy ran out of oil.....
