The best way to do it is get a 3.5mm jack that cuts the signal to the speaker when a plug is in the socket, then the impedance etc is the same, works a treat for me.

Erm - not nessy celery. This is only true if the speaker has the same resistence as the one/two ear pieces. On my old Escort they weren't so I had to use an inline reisister to balance things out. But it may, or may not be a big deal. But the attenuation of the audio may be problem. A case of suck it and see I guess.

Yeah I should have said that. On my bel985 the speaker's resistance is 8 ohms. I tested the ear piece I use and it is 8 ohms aswell so that works for me.

    Radar Detectors

My radar detector sets of the horn so I don't have to fart about plugging and unplugging leads all the time. The detector is permantly mounted in a hidden place so every time I ride its set to go.With only the Ka band enabled there are very few false alarms and I react instantly when it goes off. Being a Techy makes it fairly simple to set up but could be difficult for others to set up.

I'd do it for a fraction of that D.

    Any takers?
