... and Kinje I was asking about the tyre pressures. A bike will run wide if you have them softer than spec.

Will give them a check before my next ride. Haven't done them for a while. When I filled up last few times was at end of or during a ride so they were warm and wouldn't have been true. Must go and buy a new check guage, last one fell apart on me, but was very handy up till then

BOLLOCKS! A premo example, would be, Continental "Race attack" rear, runs at 23psi max, and is developed with a stiffer side wall to accomodate it. On the same bike, a "Race tec or Pirelli" run at 37psi
Preasures are completely reletive to tyre, and suspension. The manufacturer is the last guy to ask!
Jay here. Hey Prick - the only way we could get those bloody Metz to last on the 748R AND the ZX6-RR was to run them at 37PSI. We started at 33ish, worked up till they lasted...tha pressure was 37. The sidewall is so soft in them, that they NEED that pressure to hold them up. That is one of the Conti's biggest strenths - cause they don;t need the pressure to hold em up they get a much bigger contact patch throught deflection. Drew says eat his exrement also![]()
Some very wise words about caution when changing bikes there Kinje!![]()
Also, the bigger the change, the more caution needed. It's taken me almost a year to get used to my Hornet coming from a GN, and am only now starting to ride it like it deserves to be ridden, still have a long way to go before it's pushed anywhere near what it can do though. Same as when I jump on the GSXR, it's a totally different bike, so I ride it slowly to get used to what it does, and how differently it reacts to things than my Hornet. It's all learning, and it's awesome that you are taking that into consideration mate,![]()
Geez bollocks to all your bollocks. Did you make all this stuff up or does the "23 psi and developed with a stiffer sidewall" all sound like manufacturers specs to you after all or do you put the tyres in test rigs and measure the stiffness of the carcass yourself assuming the manufacturers just guess on all this and know nothing about what they are doing?
I think without knowing it you are actually trying to say the same thing I was - run the tyres at spec. In Kinje's case he probably still has road/touring spec tyres so what's the use in telling him how low the pressure can be in a Race Attack rear? The guy isn't ready to race on the road yet.
Anyway not to take away from Lissa's thread - keep enjoying that bike.
Cheers
