    Basic handling course

Well I finally took the bull by the horns today and went for my Basic Handling skills course. I thought being a pillion for the last few years I would have been pretty confident to ride a bike. BOY WAS I WRONG. When I first jumped on I dropped it and hurt my back in the process so I thought o myself what the hell am I doing. Then it hit me. I'm doing this because I want to be the rider instead of the pillion. It took the whole course for me to build confidence with the bike and now I have to go back to do that actual test. I have to say that Roulstons Driving school were awesome. There was both me and another lady that went that hadn't actually ridden and they were so patient and helpful it was great.

Wish me luck for two weeks time when I sit the actual test.

Woohoo! Another lady rider (or two) on the road... They're so much more polite than guys (and better looking too)...

Don't worry SC - give yourself time... just ride til you feel confident...

    Congrats too chick!

Well done for not giving up after you dropped the bike. Your confidence will skyrocket as you practise more and more.

    Have fun and good luck

    Hey Stickchick

Well done doing the BHS course and good luck for 2 weeks time.

I passed my Basic Handling Skills Test last weekend and it was nowhere near as hard as what I thought it would be. I would recommend spending a bit of time practising before you do the test, just so you can get a feel for the bike again and you will be fine. Good Luck!

just a question, what do the guys at Roulstons Driving school teach you before you do the basic handling course.

i've been thinking of getting my licence and wondered if it is worth doing the extra stuff before i do the actual test.

Well done! It's one of those things (much like riding a bicycle), where practise makes (near) perfect. Keep persevering, and you'll be fine. Good luck for when you sit the test in two weeks!

They 'teach' f***all. What they are looking for is a basic ability to ride a bike in a straight line, weave between cones, stop on demand and change gears up & down. There's a little more but that's about it. Can you do that?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
