    Flywheel weight

I have a 01 CR250 and am getting back into trail and MX. After 25 years!! And boy have things changed. You guys fly much higher now!! With the man made jumps.
After many years karting and many years touring (i still ride road at least 3 times a week) sold the karts and got me and my kids (teenagers) MX bikes. I went 2 stroke as I can maintain them myself. My sons have a KX85 and Cr125.
My 250 is a great bike, the guy I bought it of was a bike mechanic and it is geared a bit lower and jetted so it tractors from down low really well. so it's not a wild rev'er.
But infortunatly I have to admit it is a bit much for me. It actually goes like stink. After 6 months riding most weekends it still scares the crap outa me sometimes. I rode my mates yz250f and felt I could actually give it heaps. But I can't afford a 4 stroke at the moment.

I do Moto-x (not race meetings) at Ardmore sometimes and Kimis farm etc so jumps and stuff. Also go trail riding as well on the cross country rides.

So would a fly wheel weight help my bike. If so should I go 10 or 12oz in weight. Thats my main problem will a 12 suck to much out of it on the MX tracks.

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

the flywheel will help a great deal

go the 12oz, you will not suck that much power out of it, you have already said its to much as it is, they flywheel weight will just make it tractor out of corners rather than launch out of them

As Scott said, it will help make the bike much more usable, my friend has a 01 CR250 with fly wheel weights added and they work great.

Great reply and fast to thanks guys

damad could you find out if your mate has a 10 or a 12oz.

The guy I buying off says a 10oz would be best coz I do a bit of MX as well as the trail. But that is all he has in stock so I'm not so sure. Although he has been really helpful.

He's not sure what weight it is because it was on there when he got it, there probably wouldn't be a huge difference between the two, but it would defiantely be better than standard and I dont think this will effect you two much on the MX track.

Oh and I got a mag and it has a write up of all teh CR's over the yers adn teh 01 was one of the best. but its power was very sharp. do you have a factory pipe on it? a FMF fatty on my old RM made a huge difference down low.

p.s. stay on teh 2 stroke - the 4/s are great but will cost you farking heaps!!

Add the biggest weight you can buy and it will be all good.

Its got a pro circut platinum on it.
But it pulls from low really well. I never have to clutch it up the hills or anything, even going slow. Climbs really well. Its just that you have to be constantly soooo respectful on the throttle you can never relax and just blast along.

Please tell me where Bruin engineering is as the kit I was looking at was a "steahly kit" for 190 bucks. And I thought that was a good price.

Thanks a bunch for that! Same number I got when I googled it.

Looks like the difference is, the Bruin one is a replacement heavier fly wheel. I'll ask them if I have to re-set up the timing on that one. And the steahly kit attaches to the existing one.

I'll give Bruin a call tomorrow I'd like to go 12oz I think.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for all your help cheese,

I ordered one off Tjebbe at Bruin engineering. Nice guy! 11 or 12oz he said he makes. Fits over the existing fly wheel.
Might even get him to respring my front shocks as they are known to be to hard in my model bike.

For your forks I'd go visit danger and get him to set all your suspension up for you. He made my olf forks on my RM magic! Your rear shock would really benifit from a service too.
