You shouldn't be able to pop a fuse using the 2-pin relay at all, even if the thing was completely forked, it would still just be indicators on or off, depending on how it died. This would even be if you connected it backwards.
It sounds like if you're popping fuses with it, it's getting connected between +12v and ground rather than +12v and load. If you turn the bike and indicators on, you should be able to put a piece of wire between the +12V pin and load pin of the relay connection and have the indicators just come on solid. If the fuse blows, replace it and try doing the same thing between +12V and the other relay pin. That'll tell you which one is actually connected to the lights.
Edit: Also, do you know if the LED indicators need an external ballast resistor at all? Some of them are just the LEDs and as such need an external resistor to stop the current going too high through them.
Sorted,
Idk why I popped a fuse in the beginning, but my 2pin relay was fucked so I borrowed one off Hayd3n, worked, but all four lit up and it didnt flash, took the dash light out for the indicators and they lit up one the correct side, no flash.. dug out the ebay one, hooked it up (3pin) put the dash light back in, and same problem, solid light, took the light out of the dash.. and away we go! im flashing properly and all on the correct side, now im without a dash light lmao
Well.
Turns out all i could think about for the last few days was the RVF.
So i bought it.

(Not sure about the sound though...)
Shit yeah, the sound. Hadn't heard mine running in over a month, walked in right as AJ was firing it up to balance the carbs.
Stood there grinning like an idiot for a minute or 2.
if you don't mind me asking, what vaguely did he end up charging for fitting your fairings / the carb balance? And what do you reckon about your fairings? Looking pretty good ay? Just the lining up of the front cowel/ front and side fairings ay? As well as the paint runs...
My vfr could do with a proper balance and adjusting of the mixture screws (currently set at stock but modified pipe on there and running 122 and 118 jets) - I can't remember from my last carb balance on a cbr, but is this adjustment usually done when balancing the carbs? (or do mechanics have to take the carbs off to do this)
Im hoping to rejet this week once I find out the internal and outer dimensions of the washers on the needles (need to add 0.5mm washer to each needle, might just replace the current 0.5 with a 1mm instead though) then im getting it balanced, Rick at MCR gave me a great tip to save myself money on the labour costs if I took it into him, said about adding the hoses etc and running them to the pillion seat marked so all they have to do is remove the tank and do the rest, instead of remove the lot, or something like that haha, I need to go and see him again as I forgot already but ya know![]()
Yeah, the fairings have been fitted up and look OK, nothing spectacular. The problem with mine is that I was coming from pretty well past-it fairings (cracked and disintegrating), so I've really just traded to a different kind of general rattyness.
I have no idea at all what AJ is charging me to fit them up, because I'm getting about 100 other things done because it started as an insurance claim. If you give him a buzz, he'll have a pretty solid idea of what it's likely to take, I'd think.
It's getting up there costwise pretty quick but that's new clutch lever, perch, bars, left clip-on mount, brake M/C swapped for better, triple clamps adjusted, new mirror stay fitted (including drilling out and replacing old fucked rivnut), idle mix adjusted, carbs balanced, exhaust split welded, bottom exhaust clamps re-fabbed, can polished and split weld fixed, new screen... Oh, new air-filter because the tray on mine is cracked (wtf?!).
Bugger balancing the carbs on those things yourself. I watched AJ do it and what a pain in the ass. Running hoses out sounds like a decent idea, but I'd just take the fairings off probably before riding it in. The rest will barely take him 5 minutes and saves needing the fittings etc. It's the adjustment that is the real killer, you really need the bike up on a bench and his magic right-angle screwdriver is helpful...
122 and 118 sounds fine for the jets. From memory, stock was 118 and 115. I think I'm running 122 and 120 at the moment.
Just done the jets on the bike,
Found that the front left emission tube has been over tightened by the previous, and has split where the thread is, so I left it like that but changed the Jet, added a 0.5mm washer to all the needles and adjusted the pilot jets, it sounds rough, and now it has a super flat spot at about 11grand to 12.5grand..
Im about ready to sell this bike on ae haha nothing but trouble.
That flat spot, does it pick back up afterwards or is that where you're shifting?
When you had the carbs apart, did you go through and give everything a solid cleaning? Carb cleaner down all the passages etc.? Have they been balanced?
I can't remember if you said where you're located? Anywhere near Auckland? AJ would be absolutely the one to sort out any carb issues.
Rode mine home today finally, I quite liked the ultra-aggressive sound of it with the exhaust leak, but it's back to having that beautiful deep burble... mmmmm... That and with the exhaust being quieter, I can hear the gears again.
