Have you removed (/moved slightly) the rear subframe? I remember needing to do that to get replace the shock on my old bike. Exhaust was still in place. Had the advantage of AJ there though :-p

It is the exhaust not allowing the bolt to come out.
If you look at this: http://s19.photobucket.com/user/Camm...rLink.jpg.html
The bottom bolt on mine has to come out the other side and I can't move the linkage high enough to clear the exhaust. With the shorter stock shock I think it would have been possible to do this with exhaust in place. I think the bike shop removed the exhaust when they installed the shock and put the bolt back in as they found it where most people would put it in backwards so you can remove it without interfering with the exhaust.
Was trying to avoid removing exhaust as you need to replace gaskets.
Can you get the top bolt off? I took an rs250 shock and put a stock shock on, took the whole linkage off with it - undoing the top bolt in that picture, not the bottom one (the shock we put in had also been removed the same way and came with the whole linkage). It's raining so really can't be bothered going outside to have a look :-p

Have removed the top mount bolt for the shock and the top bolt in that photo. Bottom bolt needs to be removed otherwise nothing is coming out.

They did the same as what I did - loosened the subframe bolts and lifted it up - maybe play around with the position/load on the shock? I remember playing around with putting blocks of wood under the swingarm (I think we also had the rear wheel off maybe?, bike was on an abba stand)...

I can't even adjust the preload on the shock as the c spanner either hits the frame or hits the plastic shock guard that is part of the undertray
If I remove the subframe and undertray I could probably lift the shock high enough to allow the bolt to clear the exhaust for removal. Will have a look tonight.

Fuck this bike. Exhaust off tomorrow.
Haha :-) they can be like that...another 45 min or so today and I have 4/8 pistons in the front calipers clean and moving freely...4 to go...its hard keeping the good ones in and pump the brake lever :-P
Anyone have an NC30 engine in bits? In the process of rebuilding mine I have lost a dowel and a bolt, so if anyone has one around that would be great. Pref in hamilton but whatever.
