Ruapuna raceway is our local in Churchur. I like it a lot.

Levels in Timaru though it is toight and tiny and the walls particularly at the end of the back straight are very very close...

Teretonga in Invergiggle.... never been there

Highlands in sunny Cromwell. Not motorcycle friendly but apparently a good track.

(can touch it on the left side if seat removed). Not precise, but just cold/warm/hot/so-hot-cant-touch.

Just had RR replaced with new FH012aa (previous one did a bit of smoke..), it's all good with voltage but hot as hell, up to melting black plastic and "overheat protection" firing from time to time. Not sure if it supposed to be like this by design, or something weird happening around.
Weeelll... it probably wouldn't help you at all iffen I did measure it. I've had my '01 for over 11 years now, and after having two R/Rs in a row cark it on previous bikes ('91 VFR750 and '99 VTR1000), one of the first (of very many) things I did with the VFR800 when I bought it was fit a pentium cooler fan to the R/R. So it's been great. Also had the same Motobatt battery in it for many years. It's been the most reliable and enjoyable bike I've had in over 40 years of motorbicycling. (Mind you, it should be; it was the most expensive, and I've spent a smallish fortune on mods.)
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Balanced my carbs today..
Good lord, what a bloody job that was. Spent the first 2 hours trying to get the blanking screws out. They were in perrrrfect condition, so I don't think they've been off since the bike was new! A lot of hammering and WD40 was required.
It turns out that unless you have TINY hands, you really do need a right angled screwdriver to get at the balancing screws. I have some nice burns on my hands from getting in there with a 7mm socket..
All up it took me about 4 hours. Lots and lots of fucking around trying to work out how to improvise tools to access hard to reach places. At one point I had a 7mm socket duct taped at a 90 degree angle onto a crescent attached to a long screwdriver to get at the balancing screws. It didn't work .

On a brighter note. It's smoother all through the rev range, less vibey, and not nearly as jerky with 1st gear low speed maneuvering. It was worth it. Just..

NC24 will be debuting in her (and my) first race meet on the 24th of Jan with CAMS at Ruapuna. Can't wait. Been stripping the road gear off her in the garage.

Still nutting out the issue of the front brake pistons not releasing, took the master cylinder off and gave it a good clean out without pulling it apart (those circlips look nasty) so hopefully the brakes will function nicely for me on the day. So far I've rebuilt both calipers and put on brand new disks n rotors and changed all the fluid. If it isn't this then I shall scream, shout and throw a bit of a tantrum. Silly previous owner did not look after this bike well...

Any other VFR'ers going to be there on the day?

Sweet!do you own a manometer? probably more likely that they were done up tight, plus it gets hot and cold around there, makes things difficult, as they would have been off with a service at some point in the last 25 years :-)

I have a right angled screwdriver...not sure what other use it is for though!

Yeah, went halves with a mate on a Morgan Carbtune Pro. Didn't want the inaccuracy of the gauge type, and didn't want to piss around with mercury. It worked nicely, picked up very small movements on the sync screw so I assume it has pretty decent precision.
The screws were in absolutely perfect condition, like.. it didn't look like a screwdriver had ever been near them. They're bloody soft as well, so there should be some marking if they'd been off before. The bike has only done 29,000 so it's entirely possible that it's never had a carb sync.

Did you register at Honda Hamilton or online?

I can't see the usual booking on hdticketing.
