Nah I used some old motor oil in that. Wouldn't happen to have a spare tank would ya? My mate crashed it and now the tank is fucked.

So is it ok to use ATF? or is it best just to buy the proper stuff?
its Crazy Big Al but if your have lesbian fantasies you can read it crazy bi gal if you like!
I think that every 10 hours is the general rule.
sweet will go buy some tomorow thanks
Yeah Cheese has got it about right. I try to change mine every 2nd ride and I usually ride about 3-4 hours at a time. But if after two rides the bike is not dirty enough to wash (like sometimes after those Woodhill rides the bike is still pretty clean) but still a little too dirty to work on, I'll stretch it to three rides and change the oil and bleed the brakes after cleaning the bike. Makes it easier and less chance of contamination working on a clean bike.
So two rides minimum, 3 rides maximum between oil changes when using ATF is my rule of thumb.![]()
You bleed your brakes as well? Gosh!
Um still waiting on my tax refund greg I'll bring all my suspension in for you to service.
Sweet as. Yeah my rear brakes get really hot and the brake fluid deteriotes quickly. To ensure maximum braking performance I find it best to bleed them after cleaning the bike and at the same intervals as the gearbox, if not sooner if they have had alot of abuse.
Use dot5.1, not dot5.
Danger, Didn't you say one of your bikes was out because of a bit of the gearbox that fell out. I'm not so sure about the ATF.
I use Motul (only because I get it wholesale through a mate) and change it every 10 hours.
When we raced karts we always used proper gearbox oil, Castrol or Rock in those days. Changed it only twice a season. Our 125's where doing over 12,000 revs, on methenol, had 50 times as many gear changes per lap as you guys, had no clutch, clutch baskets, plates or springs. Removed them for more power! We'd pull it through gears under full power on occasion and mostly with just a flick off the throttle then change quickly back down 4 gears on 3 metres. Never blew a gearbox.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!
'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '
I use shell advance synthetic. Never had any problems in the rs and it needs to be fairly high performance. Change it every 3 meetings usually. Not too hard on the pocket either, about $17 per litre iirc.
Yes, a bit of tooth out of the g/box or some drive part on the 200. But this is an 02 bike with a lot of very hard miles on it and its the first g/box problem I've had. Not sure what it is because I have not had a chance to pull it down yet.
FWIW my mate AJ has done his gbox on his 07 200 recently (dead toad), also did the same thing on his 06. Not sure what oil he uses, but I know its not ATF. So I think my gbox life has been very good.
I was about to say its because its a suzi then I find it the KTM that did it!!! OMG!
