Crash bars for Transalp?

Hello there,

In recent off road rides, I have been in the verge of dropping my Transalp for the first time, it occurred to me that investing in a good set of crashbars is a reasonably good idea for preventing serious damage on the fairing.

I have come across 2 brands: the Givi and the Touratech (Attached).

The Givis look unobtrusive but maybe a bit low as for how far up the bike it actually protects.

The touratech seem to cover more of the bike but it seems less structurally supported (maybe just a psychological thing...).

Anyone had any experience with either of them?

I've gone the Hepco Becker way. Good engine, fairing and light protection. Maybe a bit of an over kill but hey I'm happy with my choice. I ordered them from www.noRRus.com.au - Markus has been awesome to deal with. I had hoped they would be here intime for an Anzac Day adventure we had planned but they won't be here until early May. You can also weld a tang on the light protector surround to add some auxillary spot lights if need be.

That's just a wicked web link. The've got the works of accesories for most adventure bikes. I like the ally panniers. Sounds like a grand OZ$ to get you sorted with the boxes and rails.

Re the bars, they have to be the sturdiest I have seen. They blow my budget a bit as well. I've found the Givi ones for only $180. The hepco ones shipped to NZ will end up well pass the AU$300 mark. Maybe a bit much as I was planning on getting the bark busters as well. (BTW, has anyone tried these?)
