Canterbury: Great one day rides, Help?

I've done Akaroa plenty of times, the Waiau and Leader Valleys, Inland Kiakouras and Arthurs Pass, all the usual rides...Who knows of a great route to ride in the Canterbury area that's not generally known about? Thanks.

Not known about? As in.. nobody else will be on the road?

You could always ride up the port hills to the sign of the Bluebird or something like that.

Sign of the Bellbird . The goat rack is going start getting dodgy if the current weather continues

There's few good day rides (loops) and short strops (one way in/ one way out)
at the southern end of the plains.

up dyers pass then turn right, 12km along the summit rd to gebbies pass, turn right and come back round through motukarara or turn left and come down to the wheatsheaf then you can turn right and head for diamond harbour or left and back over the hill at dyers pass (turn left at governors bay) or keep going through to lyttleton and back through the tunnel

or up dyers pass then turn left and head along the other half of the summit rd

the problem with canterbury is it's sooo fekkin flat! but banks peninsula will see ya right

Go out to Hasketts rd and turn left into Ruapuna. I know you were there a couple of weeks ago, it only gets better !

    1. Arthurs Pass and back though Lewis Pass
    2. Inland road (SH 77?) through to SH 79, Geraldine & Fairlie. SH 8 to Waitohi-Pleasant point Rd and then right into Waitohi-Temuka rd. Through Temuka on SH1 and turn off at Winchester. Back up SH 79 & SH 77 to Christchurch.

    Sorry about the flat bits.

Hope that is of some use.
