    History lesson needed

    Hi there.

I'm currently doing personal research into the Storm Troopers. I remember as a young lad growing up in West Auckland seeing patched up older peoples around my area.(I guess I was a wannabe my mates family were heavily involved) I guess it was about the same time as the Skalp Hunters and all that were emerging. (Skalp Hunters were A junior version of the Head Hunters)

Several things I am trying to confirm are as follows.

Was it the Police that destroyed the Storm Troopers after the shoot out between them and Police in Moerewa?

Are the Tribesman the remnants of The Storm troopers?

The first school based Marae was built in Green Bay High School Was it built by the Storm Troopers?

I thionk that's all I have for the moment but would be great to hear back from anyone in the know!!

I use to kick around with a few colorful people back in the day....Owairaka Boys Home old boy and further.. more on that laters.

Dang, and there I was thinking it was a post about Star Wars! Sorry, can't help you with that kind of Stormtrooper!

And I have to confess, I think it's an odd choice of topic for your first post on a MOTORCYCLING forum - we're not all bikies! (I'm not even sure they were?)
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Why do you want to know? Trying to fill in the blanks in your family tree?

Can't say I've ever heard of them, apart from the fact that a quick Googling reveals that Joseph Thompson, the South Auckland serial rapist, joined the group around 1973.

Great hapu you got going there, bro.

Yeah,Otara,Otahuhu late '60's early '70's.I don't think they even had bikes, they just walked around - street commando's.They couldn't hack it with the real bikers, they were probably absorbed into the Headhunters when they started to get powerfull around '73.Never saw them after that.

Ah the "Stormies" as we called them in dargaville, there were several in the area 15 years ago they had an incident where the local cop had to fire a shot in the air to calm several members down...I have not heard of them for a long long time. They were all beat the feet types though

I don't think they ever had a proper structure or discipline. Just a bunch of bruvvas looking for any trouble they could start.

Dunno that they even had proper patches.

I'd be very surprised if they ever did anything as useful as building a marae.

Mainly Otara focused as I recall.

No such thing when referring to gangs anymore. Who do you think are behind so much serious crime, esp the drug trade?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

First post - and you select a 3 year old thread. Well done that man.
