Official L-plate disposal methods?

Did not have an option as mine had been lost, come test day I was borrowing somone elses.

I would say hand it down, I know Training Wheels and a few other kb riders could do with being in posession of an official one.

Should you feel you have passed it down with all of the associated Karma include with it the the best piece of advice you have ever recieved.

This is the only ecofriendly solution to your dilema, and it prevents LTSA profiting twice.

If you feel you still cannot pass it down hang it in the garage or decorate a wall (to do this with real panaché you will need to "requisition" a few other road signs, bike stickers etc).

Oooh I like all those ideas. Maybe I should write my best bit of advice on the back before I give it away. Then the next newbie can write his/her advice before they hand it on, and so on... until either the back is full, the L-plate gets lost or someone gives in to the urge and burns it!

Get a little notebook with it and pass that to each owner see if we can fill the book with just one piece of advice from each KB noob.

I like this idea, we all learn from the advice given, sometimes the hard way, so passing it on sounds good to me

The RG150 has so far seen 2 people through their Learners and tomorrow a friend is borrowing it for their full.

We keep the L plate for friends that need one for their test.

I don't mean how to get my Restricted (I'll be booking my test in early May). I mean, how do I actually dispose of that square of nasty grubby smelly accursed yellow plastic once I'm 'allowed' to?

• Burning it would be satisfying but not very environmentally friendly
• Burying it doesn't really get rid of it... I'd still know it was there... waiting for me... getting madder and madder... digging its way out of the ground...
• I could give it away to a newbie who was just starting out. But that would be like deliberately passing on an STD
• Maybe I could put it through a garden shredder and chop it into tiny little yellow bits. But would each bit then grow into another L-plate? I might end up with 50 of them following me everywhere instead of just one

Is there a commonly accepted and approved way to dispose of the L-plate? Is there a ceremony I need to perform, like an exorcism? Can I do it on my own or do I need professional help... or support from other bikers? And what's the best way to do a wild pagan dance while wearing bike boots without making a complete fool of myself?

I am going to pass mine on to a newbie - paying it forward - I think that the L-Plate serves a very useful purpose - gives other road users a heads up that there is the possibility of erratic riding ahead and to give you a wide berth. I didn't have any adverse experiences while it was attached - 100kms on the motorway and all

I never had one to dispose of... but personally give it away to newbie or keep it as a momentoe

Well, I'll be stashing mine away under the seat as per usual! Always good as a frisbee, bike stand rest, food plate and pooper scooper! (just remember not to use it in reverse order I have said! )
