What a beautifully restored Norton!

RESTORED???

Christ no! I sold that late 70's to finance a trip to the UK. It was a '64 Atlas 750 and regarded as a pile of old munt. In that piccy it had

Laverda seat
Clip ons
Rear sets
Commando rear guard
Dunstal zorst
triumph 2L/S brake plate in the Norton wheel (not easy)
Dunstal 810cc kit
stupid cam
giant amals (stupid stupid stupid)
Highly moddified electrics (great lights)

I painted it myself in Jaguar maroon (Mk2) with a black tank panel at home with a vacuum cleaner spray kit (looked first rate, laquer is easy)

It was timed at 129mph (one way) at some bike club flying half mile but that version of the engine lasted about 3,500 mile before the insides got bored and wanted to see what kind of day we were having on the outside..

Rebuilt it from all the std spares and it was a much nicer bike.

I could convert it to touring trim in an afternoon.

I miss that bike, it was more fun than anything else and regularly blew honda 4's away on twisty roads. I did 50,000 miles on it and it had 200,000 on it when I sold it. Utter crap those brit bikes eh!

Well,I never had any problems,it was just part of the job - but compared to putting a head onto a pushrod Guzzi....

Thats true! Almost anything on a Guzzi is idiot simple (which is why I own one) except changing the $%#$%king oil filter (which I did last night). What moron decided putting in inside the sump was a good move... Jeeze!

Thats the speedo drive cable... The speedo gearbox is mounted on the rear axle.

I snagged it on the stand taking the picture. Featherbed Nortons use a brake rod on the other side....

Commando was always a great bike, Bonny lost the plot when they stretched it to 750, loads of my mates had the ones just before the factory went bust and they were troublesome crap,my mates slowly but surely eat their words and bought Japanese. The "new" Bonny is o.k., Thruxton version is more like it. People on another BB I use prefer the Kwak W650 over the Bonny and a couple have actually owned both.This year Kawa are doing the W650 in a nice dark blue colour, looks really neat.

Ya' darn right about the 650 vs 750 Bonnies.
I had a couple of 650s an used to cane the guts out of them,I then made the mistake of buying a 76 T140 an spent two years nursing the bloody thing before I got smart an replaced it with a TR6R.faster,stronger,an better looking.I have a mate that has a W650 an he ain't that happy with it,The XS eats it

There's a couple of other models,a lest one of em' has more modern suspension
with mono shock ect.VERY NICE :cool2:
