They choose to be fat (most obese people anyway) as a lifestyle choice - they should accept the consequences of that choice.

If their fat takes up another seat then they should have to pay for that too.

How dare they force other passengers to put up with their smelly fat folds lying all over them!

I had to sit next to some one taking up half my seat on a flight from vancouver to heathrow. She complained the tray was broken because she couldn't lower it past her stomach. The plane was full so i had to endure it - i was not happy.

Be fat if you want (DD is correct, most of you can chose not to be), just dont' let it affect other people.

Am I allowed to say fat, or is that too un-pc in this fucked up country that's just decided that kids are adults and that passes laws that shouldnt be policed?

They are having special crematoriums built now for the "increasing width" of the customers. UK has built two extra-width toasting chambers and the waiting list, for the use of these, is growing by the day.

Some overweight people...more than you realise, have a eating disorder...not just restricted to anerexia.........so cannot help their weight.....genitics also plays a part....so not always a lifestyle choice.

I mean what about underweight people getting a seat which has space for another person......

Sorry guys but not a nice atitude to overweight people.

I am ashamed of you all...except Renegade....

I understand what your saying... but... as far as im concerned: we all start off thin. We all enter this world thin. If you start to gain weight and you do nothing about and you become obese then that is their lifestyle choice. Yes there are people that are on medication that increase weight gain - but its nothing a bit of healthy eating and excercise cannot counteract.

Not true.........they don't let it affect you, you let them affect you..you have a choice.

Fair enough may not be ideal, however, you are on a crowded plane so no creature comforts...that's air travel for you.

I dont care how they get their excersize. Just so long as they do it.......2 times a day if need be.
I sick of fat people who expect the world to accomodate to them. THATS WHY THEY ARE FAT - COS THEY ARE LAZY

err yes it is. Bear in mind we are talking about obese people here rather than overweight.

Overweight is simply falling outside of a 'standard' set by health professionals.

Obese is something that affects your health and ristricts mobility.

There is nothing wrong with being 'overweight' - lots of people are actaually happy being their particular size/weight even though the 'standard' says they are overweight.

Obese people are simply put - lazy.

Im sorry, but theres no excuses really.

A genetic propensity to obesity is all very well, but its still that persons choice to eat too much. Genetics only play part of the equation.....will power plays a bigger role. As does healthy eating and exercise.
I know quite a few large people who make no effort whatsoever to exercise or eat healthy. Diets have bugger all effect as they don't stick to them, they don't realise that too lose weight requires a lifestyle change.
I bet in 99% of the cases obesity is self inflicted, real disorders such as prada willy (sp) syndrome are not that common. Discovery/Documentary channels have had quite a few programs on it.
    FFS its not a disease!

Its not someones choice to be put in a position where someone is encroaching on their space/seat and putting them in an uncomfortable position when they have paid a fair price for a reasonable level of comfort.

Oi, watch it you lot, or us fatties will come and sit on you .

And in my experience it's not fat that's the problem it's wide or tall.

I can't sit in an economy seat next to another male of normal build without us clashing shoulders. Which to me says the seats are too narrow.

And tall people can't fit their legs and feet into the space available, so they have to splay their legs out , and then they clash knees with the dude next door.

Two large guys can only fit if they both sit at an angle

And the perjorative "fat people should pay more" arguments ignore the fact that a lot of heavy people may be heavy because they're big, not because they're obese. Want to tell Jonah Lomu he has to pay extra cos he's fat ?

Moreover, I think weak puny people should pay more, cos in the event of a crash they're not going to be much use at getting out, and will get in my way .

I agree for some it is self inflicted, however, genetics does play a part preventing some from burning fat quickly, slow metabolism and many other factors.

Type 1 Diabetes can cause people to put on weight and they have to be careful when excercising.

Surely the airlines should accomodate all shapes and sizes...I mean Colapop is a big fellow, not overweight but he may well encroach close to you on.......

    Oh no it isn't............

Obesity = 25% (Female) or 30% (Male) body fat which is not a lot
    really.

Yes some are lazy and you can tell by there presentation but you should not be quick to judge.
