A bit of xr250r knowledge please

my xr is great and i love it!
but when i have a stack its really hard to start again, if it falls to the left it starts no worries, but if it falls to the right it a fricken mission. so. whats the trick? and when do you use the de compression lever?
    any advice much appreciated. cheers

Its usually about the fuel in the carb. If engine is warm and you arse off usual technique if it doesn't start easily the first time is treat it like its flooded and kick it over with the throttle wide open. You shouldn't need to worry about the decompressor.

    yep

throttle wide open if you flood it. Watch out for the ocassional kick back when doing this though.

    Yep
    I agree with the others
mine doesnt always need full thottle
but give it a bit and it roars back into life.

And yes I would love a new bike too!

Yep well we've moved with the times and now out of the five bikes in our garage not one doesn't have an electric start.

If you do try holding thottle fully open, hold the killswitch on, to prevent a massive kickback which could break ya leg ,or worse, ya kickstart shaft. 6 or 8 kicks, then try a normal hot start and she'll pop int olife no worries.

Full Thottle. Decompressor in. 4 to 6 kicks and it should fire up. This
was the trick for the XR250 from 1986 to 1995 when they had been droped.
