Indeed. I am constantly amazed that taxi drivers are above the seatbelt law. How hard is it to put a seatbelt on and take it off?

However once they do more than 50 kph then the seat belt law applies. Guess how many speeding taxi drivers get a ticket for not wearing a seat belt too.

I dunno that it's fair to say, "... they all seem to think at times that they own the road and are above the law.", as you do get some (particularly truckies, and especially those that own their own rigs) who are excellent and courteous drivers, but there are certainly WAY too many crap ones amongst them.

No, its probably not fair to say "all", probably should have said "many" or perhaps "f**ken heaps", it amounts to a fair percentage of them anyway.

At low speed, around town, the professionalism of most truckies is quite obvious to me and is certainly appreciated.
I've had the same trouble getting past them on the open road (bloody rain makes it enarly impossible) but many times i realise that they're actually doing about the speed i want anyway and I don't need to pass!!

prob old news but i just found out that trucks can now do 90KmH (well lets face it 100KmH)!!!

trucks have been able to do 90kph for ages all they have done is bring truck and trailers into line with trucks, semis, and B-trains. you wanna do this for a living and try sittin on 80kph it aint easy also the tolerance for all trucks went down to 5kph so now youll only get away with 95kph. also technollogy has come along way in the heavy transport arena since that 80kph limit was set.

however i will agree with you about bike speed limits. i find it difficult to sitt on 100-110 on my bike to do it i spend more time looking at the speedo than i care to. 130-140 would suit me fine

How about this one, guys.....according to that old git from Monash university (yea, the same person on that 2-fords braking advertisements/propaganda), the safe speed a vehicle should travel is marked by the halfway-point on the speedo .

Following that logic, my Supra should travel at 90kph, but my Blade can travel at 150kph no problemo eh?

My digital speedo goes from 0-300kph or so.

So the Nordies safe speed just happens to be on the limiter in top gear :cool2:

Eventually Pold came into view, we were still at 110, Mr trucker didn't even bother to slow. Plod ignored him. It's like the old days when we could do up to 20 over without worrying about tickets.

that guy should buy a lotto ticket fast. when the limit was 80kph i got done twice once for 92kph and once for 93kph and both times i was in a passing lane. as a current linehauler in the twilight hours i dont push the limit by more than 2-3 kph its just too easy to get busted. and i need my licence

Heaps of the so called professional drivers are nothing more than outright road criminals (not all). Taxi drivers, courier drivers, truckies, security guards, they all seem to think at times that they own the road and are above the law. As far as I'm concerned they should receive the firmest enforcement of all because they are SUPPOSED to be professional drivers. Security guards are some of the worst, one was found recently doing 140 in a 50 because he was responding to an alarm activation that was 45 minutes old - f**ken halfwit!!

Driving from Wellsford to Kaiwaka with some mates we were pop passed by a concrete truck, then it pop passed 3 more cars before reaching the passing lanes goin into kaiwaka which he proceded to pass cars at well over 150km/h we followed him to see how fast he would end up goin

For some reason I always thought trucks didnt accelerate that quickly...

check your speedo trucks cant go that fast.
a - the drag is too much
b - if it dosent have a rev limiter it will run out of revs at maybe tops 130.
