So i think taking it for a ride gives me a much more precise oil level. But in saying that, i still have to top it up every now and then...
Wouldn't swet it then. About every second tank full or around 700kms by the sounds of per top up should be fine. They only hold about 2.3 litres total anyway, with 1.6/1.7 changed per oil change/oil and filter change. Oil should be changed every 3,000kms and filter every third change. I personnally replace the filter every second change on my beasty.

Tis a good habit to check the oil before a ride. My Gb uses a fairly similar amount by the sounds of it.

I wish i could check the oil before each ride, but it seems for me, as i said before, to get an exact level of the amount of oil i need to take it for a ride first. So i just check the oil after each ride :P Thanks for your help mate!

Well today i finally purchased a second hand piston, barrel, and rings, and a new set of valve seals for my gb400. The wrecker said if the bike doesnt stop burning oil with the piston and barrel i got from him, he will happily give me my money back, so thats sweet as. Time to rip out the manual i guess..
