    Project GS Fighter (cheap)

here is a brief write up on a cheap streetfighter project i did.
when i was down in paeroa at the races i spotted a GS 1000 with wat appeared to be a GSXR 1100 motor, wheels, and other bits on it.

after that i spotted this on bike pics

then at tech i spotted a black frame 05 GS 500, and saw potential.
a friend of mine had street fightered a GSX 250, which looked and sounded like rubbish.
tony frost told me of a GS that he had, it was a crashed 500F, which was perfect for me, so i brought it, and after a bit of work this is how it turned out

i removed the pack rack, reflectors, standard bars, and the shovel that passes for a mud flap at the rear.
i installed CR bend bars, and progressive springs, 15w oil, new seals, and it handled very well indeed
the whole project cost about 4.5g, and the bike had 3200km on it when i got it.

Nicely tidied up compared to a stocker, good effort on that sort of budget. As 98TLS has mentioned, now comes the hard part: knowing when to stop...

i wanted to make a retro fighter, front light is SV 650.
i think overdone fighters can be fugly, i wanted a discreet fighter, kinda like what you would have wanted in the 80's

You're a n00b... Pathos had it for 2 days and already gets his knee down... Don't you know that going fast is dangerous? That's why me and Sidewindow always go really slow in gravel so we drop our bikes like Ewan McGregor from the Long Way Round...

I'm sure it will inspire other GS500 owners.
