    replacing fork seals...

    G'day to the TL brothers....

Any of you had experience replacing the fork seals on the TL? My bike is all but sold now, just want to put new seals in it to get a warrent b4 selling it. I have read all the stuff from the planet and seen the tools to make the job easier.

So looks like a little bit of a hassle to save a few dollars... do ya reckon it's worth it? Also if I do it i'll machine up a decent set of tools at work if anyone would be interested in them when i'm finished with them?

    ciao...

You can save some $$$ but you need some special tools also, I've replaced the springs (with Ohlins), that was ok. Made a special tool to compress the the fork spring, but you also need a special tool to remove the damper rod bolt, this separates the inner/outer tubes, tried to make a tool, but just didn't work. I took it to the suzuki shop and got them to do the rest, thought fcuk it, not worth the hassle, don't get me wrong, I've pulled down the motor twice now completely, but for the sake of $20, and the shop has all the gear.
BTW, that was for one blown fork seal.............

    SHOCK

Any one got a spare shock for a 98 TL1000S? Im after the "spring on a stick" part. The shaft on the inside of my spring is rooted and need to replace it before I can sell the bike.

Hoping there should be a few on the second hand market from all those people who take them out to fit Bitubo/Ohlins etc systems to there TL's.

    Cheers
    Daryl
