from what I have heard, not many of us would keep up with two smoker.
the 230k was at a pretty sedate speed, around 110 to 120, and it is a highway of sorts almost all the to the Island.

Anyone have micron pipes on there TL? any good?

    Cheers
Yeah i normally get 190 before the feul light comes on open road, otherwise round town its more 160ish, track oh damn got 95k once petrol!

The microns are pretty good cans, you thinking of carbon or alloy?
Have to be careful with carbon on TL's the vibrations destroy them easily, the microns are not bad from what i've heard as the end caps mount to the baffle tube rather than mount to the outer selve, thats where the problems start. A better way to go for sure with a/m mufflers, even 2 bros ones viabrate to bits with the rivets mounting the end caps to the outer selve, kerker carbons dont go near em, neptune's are fairly solidly built to and would be worth a look.
I reckon anything that dosen't mount to the selve should be about right.

Cheers LB, thinking of Stainless, they have a bit of a problem over here with allowing after market pipes, so if I go stainless they might not notice (I hope). some dude on a stand at PI said he would cut me a deal on micron pipes. I might look into neptunes as well, I have the standard pipes on my TL and it does not have the hellish throutie sound I love about the TL's.

    Thanks for the positive replies

    Thanks guys.

The Neptunes do sound really good, they can really bark and look like they will last a long time.

Petrol ranges from 180 to 200 kms.

Sorry for swearing in this topic forum, but i too have standard pipes not by choice, only i've been through 2 sets of a/m and the factory ones are the only ones that havn't fallen to bits, with money being an issue and with me now concerntrating on going fast they have to take a step back, but hey xmas is coming, maybe a new set of pipes are too.

Tis a shame about the laws over oz way regarding a/m pipes, ever think about moving over to good ol nz, although our tracks aren't quite upto their standards, yet!

I only moved to Oz a month ago from Auckland.
Lots of bikes have a/m pipes, but I have heard in NSW they are going to ban them all together.
They do not have WOF checks over here, so the only time you have to worry about it is if you have to register a bike for the first time, as you need a WOF (not sure what they call it here, or if the cops pull you up.
Apparently the police can take any vehical off the road they want to. even new cars etc. so if you get a bit of an arsehole, and he does not like the look of you, or thinks your bike is too loud, he can tell you to fix it, and I think you get a week and then you have to get a WOF.
There is a cert on my bike that details the last time it had a noise test and what the Db is, I think it is 91 Db.
anyway, I am going to change the pipes, I will just keep the others in the shed just in case.

    Cheers

    Hi guys

Just got my 99 TLR on the road after 3 months of sourcing parts, absolutely love it! Had a 98 Gixxer 1100 previously. I'm in Dunedin so unless there is a TLR owner in Invercargill I might just be the southernmost TLR owner in the world!

    Hi Les

Well the short answer is no, so I have had to put my old 4 pot Toks back on the bike.

I did have some nice 6 pots on but had to sell them when I had my bin to get a helmet due to the poor insurance pay out.

Anyway I have tried to move on and not get all bitter about it.

My bike is looking so good at the mo and my knee is finally starting to behave it's self.

I see that you have been busy

    Cheers for the thought.

Yep I might keep trying,(blimen money). Most guys have been more than brilliant, but it only takes one to screw you for a while, but onto more important things

Thanks for the pic your bike is really starting to come together, (clever guy I would say)

I would like to see it in person one day

It looks a real treat, wonder how she will go?

    Hi BC

I have finally got that airbox from over your way and will be trying to carefully and skillfully rearrange it.

I have your pics and Rupes pics do you have time to give me a step by step, or do think that I have enough info and should just get into it.

I am a little concerened about running to lean.

Do you have a pc onboard???

    Thanks mate

    Saul,

I have my own Yosh box so I can adjust the FI as I see fit. Not as precise as a PCII, but I can do some friend bikes and make some beer money at the same time.

I cut a little differently than rupes where that actuator sat. I cut in such a way as to keep the opening so I would not have to reshape it.

I believe when you start hacking away things will become clear. It's not that complex. Also remember that I did not cut the extra area at the filter as ruped didi, I didn't see the point.
