Whats your opinion on running the TL without the steering damper. It feels pretty good without it as I've set the suspension pretty well. It's such a clumsy and clutted set up that if I can ride confidently and the way I like to with out it I will leave it off.
I left it on for my other TL's as they were running the rotary damper and stick.
Its a lovely day so out and about on the beasty shortly
I think since you have aftermarket suspension on the rear you should be Ok , I only ever got serious scares when mine had the rotary door closer on it. The TL feels as stable as a rock ( without the steering damper ) after the Buell and that has no damper either.
The stock damper makes the TL feel stodgy in my opinion .
However should you not use the damper and come to grief this post will self destruct![]()

I took mine off once for a long ride and it was night and day handling wise.
But it has saved my arse too many times running over rabbits, ducks and opossums to keep it off the bike.
And where's that sound clip?
She seems to be quite steady without it. I'll put it on today and see how heavy it makes it feel.
I'll put some 2.5w in so that should help.
The sound clip was a failure. Bum I ran out of space on my go pro. Should have checked before I rocked out the door.
Will be riding today thoughso see how I go.

Nice mate , Those clutch covers were just coming out when I sold my old TL. They look so goooood. Don't tell me you have those 6 potters sitting in your garage then? I am expecting a package very soon.
I'm used to very good brakes and pretty good front suspension so that is taking a bit to get used to.
Have just got in from a fun outing with some of the crew. Had an absolute ball. I will be happier with some front brakes though.

Cheers mate, yea gotta have those blingy bits! I'll be getting new radials this year too but gotta save for the forks first.
I have a spare sprocket cover in Black if your interested, let me know.
The TL's looking good too Mike, is there much difference in handling and braking in your opinion?
