So there will be spare seats for pillions who may be feeling the cold and coming from the South.

    :
The weather forecast this morning still mentions rain but it will be warmer with the North Easter. I may have so many clothes on that I will have trouble walking but heh isnt a day on the bike with a group of like minded (mad) bikers, better than most other days?

Aslan if it does get bad for my wife I presume she can catch a ride with your daughter? She is off to buy some over trou today.

The only thing that I am not sure about now is getting my bike wet!!!!

See you all in WangaVegas tomorrow at 10am!!

    Unhappy the car

Hi All - Young1 in particular - your wife and any other pillions will be able to ride in the car. Unless there's an amazing change in the weather, I think you can assume we'll have my daughter driving a support vehicle for those of us from Southern parts - just like 'The long way round'

In the event the weather improves to the point where she prefers to ride pillion then we'll both be on the 1150.

cheers all - safe riding - Aslan

PS -the Wharehouse overtrou are a good idea - my dri rider pants leave me a wet rider too often

Good luck, and have a great weekend.

I seem to be coming down with a cold so seeing as I have my priorities right I have taken the day off work and am riding up to Wanganui after lunch. I will be staying at the top 10 holiday park by the river. If I feel ok on Sat morn I will see you all at the BP at 10am. If I am feeling worse I will head back home instead (don't want to run the risk of giving 'the bot' to anyone else).

    my cell is 0274499115

Hopefully will see you all on Sat at 10.

    cheers

    Mark

    Hey there

Are you staying in a cabin?
If you are I may come up this afternoon?
Are you willing to split the cost of the cabin if I do?

    Cheers Scott

You could always take the direct route to Whanga, up to Stratford then inland if you weren't feeling 100%

I am sure everyone is, but if any of you are not going to stay at the Whanga pub after all, make sure you let them know!

See you at the weigh station Aslan
If you get there 1st can you warm it up and make a brew

MagicFairy may not be coming along now. We've got two big dogs that
need looking after. Unfortunately our doggy sitter decided to go to a wedding
this weekend at the last minute. Which has left us a bit short.

I'm in for sure though. The worse the weather gets the more of an adventure it
    will be.

    Really looking forward to it.
    See you guys tomorrow

After all of that, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pull the pin too , and ironically enough, not for the weather . I was contacted by one of my better clients last week wanting me to photograph some of their re-branded chemist shops in the North Island next week, and after a lot of changing of plans, I now have the first shoot in Levin on Monday , so have no chance of getting up there on the bike, then back down here to pick up a car load of camera gear to be back in Wellington by Monday. I've just spoken to Dene to sort out the accomodation thing, so if anyone is still looking for a bed at the pub, give denefoster a call. All the best gys, have a great trip, and wishing I was there.

A word of advice, go to your local shoe shop and get yourself a big can of leather waterproofer and spray the hell out of your boots, jacket etc. Seems to work well even on Cordura etc, just use lots of coats letting it dry between each coat.

Cheers, Stu ( P.S. I expect a full report and photos sometime next week )
My KLR thinks it's a Hyundai - running happily at the red-line hour after hour.....

I find it interesting that you are meeting at the weigh bridge before heading north. Is that so any GS BMWs can get weighed and receive special clearance from the Police before heading out on the road?

Not bad, coming from a man worried about getting his bike wet
