We leave some of our bikes sitting quite a while and to fire them up I always just undo the carb drain screw and let a bit of fresh fuel flush through and then they fire up no sweat. To really gum up the carb from my experience a bike needs to be sitting for more like a year not just a month.

I've got a twin room booked at the Whangamomona, so if anyone needs a bed I've got one to spare. Last I checked there was still two rooms available..

I may as well go ahead and take the plunge and commit to this event, so go ahead and put my name on that spare bed ( and I'll undertake that if for whatever reason I don't make it, I'll pay you for it anyway - bit hard to sneak out of an offer like that on such a public forum )

    cheers, Stu

To be honest, probably not, I get very few free weekends in my occupation as a wedding photographer, so prefer to spend those that I do have actually riding rather than sitting in a tent drinking all day

I'll probably do it sometime in the years to come, but will probably be spending the weekend discovering new off road excursions while you're all snuggled up around a fire telling lies and gaining a hangover....

But feel free to call in for a coffee or whatever to make yourself known on the way down or back home if your route takes you through Timaru. I live in the main street, 100 metres North of the North Street / Stafford Street / Mitre 10 / Shell Intersection..... 0274 342 372

Hey you guys have fun, if you wonder why I'm keeping quiet I already have a holiday in Cairns booked at that time as much as I'd love to go to Whangamomona.

I went and looked at the register link to see who was going and it immediately registered me so I deregistered, so hope that worked. If it still says I'm coming, I'm not, so sorry about that.
    Cheers

Ok, I finally got clearance from she who must be obeyed and have booked a bed at Whangamomona!

Windboy, we need to do some serious plotting for the friday, we should be able to find 8 hours of gravel between here and Taumaranui!

Is there anyone else coming from the north that wants to meet up?

I just managed to book in at the pub. John sounds quite relaxed about you lot, and possibly there may still be some beds available.
Looks like the locals will enjoy another entertaining night.
Hope to meet up with you guys at Taumaranui. If not, it will be the pub.

I'll be keen to catch up. I,ve done quite a few of the gravel sections from Raglan down the coast and across Mt Dampier.
PM me closer to the day, and we can take it from there.

    Hi there

I called them earlier in the day and there was 2 rooms left, but for those that are travelling as singles, then maybe they may like to share a twin room (2 single beds) to allow more room for others

Look forward to catching up with you there
