Home safe and dry about 1600 ! Had a great tiki-tour with Zukin from Uriti to Taumaranui...man there is some great riding in there!

It was fantastic to meet you all, legends one and all, to turn out on such a weekend and ENJOY yourselves. It heartens me to find that the NZ biker is alive and well, knows how to ride and have a good time; without constantly pissing off the cops! A better crew you could not have asked for...onyas!

Zukin....thanks man, great job. You know? I have this feeling we will ride togeather again soon!

See you all at the next one. jamie.

Wink aslan, dane and vanessa home safe

to Zukin and his merry lads and lasses - great weekend Scott - thanks for organising!

Enjoyed everyone's company. Sad to miss the gravel between Ureti and Taumaranui with Zukin and DucatiJim.

I really enjoyed Moki and Kiwi Roads today. Really enjoyed the quick fang on Young1's Katoom 990 - thanks Mike - very free reving with a great exhaust note. I think I'll stop dreaming of a Ducati and substitute a KTM 990 as a nice additional bike to grace my already full garage. Can't complain about my faithful yellow 1150 aka Rubber Ducky - I had a blast fanging her along the gravel roads today. The big KTM clearly comes into its own when the gravel is deep with its 21" front wheel - but no I don't think I be joining the 'Orange Crush' any time soon altho they certainly have my respect

Vee (my daughter) managed to collect a ticket out of Wanganui - alleged to be travelling at 118 clicks. Consequently, I sat close to no more than 105 all the way home from there.

Will post some pics later. Cheers to all Aslan

I was getting gas in Levin when a certain yellow drz400 went past - with the rider standing on the pegs.

About 5 minutes before that a certain mature gentleman went past the same spot on a big bmw also standing on his foot pegs so I suspect sore arses weren't limited to dr650 riders.

    cheers

    Yo Windboy,
Got any footage of the Pomarangi saddle section, off the Marokopa rd?
That would be awesome. We need to get Crisis and a few others on that track.

Jafas safe home in one piece

    Hi guys,

I'm so glad we didn't pike! We got home safe into jafaland round 5.30 last night. Greeted with nasty drivers in a mission to return home after the weekend.

After we left the main bunch (close to Mt Messenger) we headed to awakino for lunch and scored a wicked ride along the west coast towards marokopa. This has got to be the most fun road I've ever ridden. A bit like kiwi road but faster and longer. We even got to see the sun a few times!

Having mentioned kiwi Rd, that was incredible too, and the moki rd and the saddle road along the river before whanga; we're so lucky to live in this country, full of wicked surprises. I must say I had my best fit of adventure riding this weekend, 1100 km; I like to think 60% gravel stuff.

Attached are one photo that I took of the crew on kiwi road whilst Aslan and others were doing a bit of house keeping. The rest are incredible little roads by rarimu (near national park); and yes crisisman, that's the river where I dropped my helmet while I was taking the photo...

Thanks again Scott for organizing the ride and Aslan for steering us in the right direction on sunday. Was really good to put faces on the login names.

    later guys,

Well the Adventure Assaults can happen anywhere and anytime
So go ahead and make a date and the route and I am happy to list the details etc for you

I would travel to the Waikato (and districts) for another adventure assault if you are keen to organise the route and somewhere to stay
It might be a little far for the Welly crew, but stranger things have happened

After the weekend, I was amazed at the spirit of all those involved, everyone had a similar riding pace, no hurry to get anywhere etc
I would be delighted to ride with any of you again (if you let me )

    See ya soon
    Scott

I'm afraid not mate, I wish I had. Resolution for next time is to take more time to shoot pics and videos.... Your right, those waikato sections are the best... Definitely going back there

the truck driver on the papers this morning thinks the same way!!!!

    Later,
    Windboy.
