Things NOT to do travelling wellytown to dorkland

1)do not leave so late its almost dark.
2)do not forget any extra clothes.
3)do not cross desert road in the middle of winter at night with only a tee under your jacket
4)when pulled over by a cop ON desert road and asked-"how are you sir?" say---"goddamb fucking cold-wadday you think?"-aparently doeasnt go down well with the cops
    5) do not when almost home on a touring bike with frigging huge panniers try to split lanes like on a sports bike -the bang as it hits the back corner of a car is a "bit" loud

    I know what you mean.

Try doing Christchurch to Dorkland in one day on a naked bike in August I hit the Desert Road around 10:30 pm. It took me about 3 days to thaw out and my knees ached due to the cold air for the next week.

Yep, I did it once and even with my perchance for cold climes, I had my teeth chattering when I got to Waioru. Went to the cafe at the army museum, tucked into a large meal and donned my thermal shirt, neck warmer and a couple more layers of warm clothes. Was positively toasty after that!

So, now I have more gear for those pootles through colder areas!

You idiot, Frosty. I lived in Waiouru as a wee chap for a couple of years. I've hated the cold, and snow, ever since.

    What... you mean Viagra?

Blimey, I hate to think of the consequences of taking Viagra when it's so cold on the bike that your fun gun has turned inside out!

Thought you was gonna tell me when you came down???
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

Was not a pretty sight when he walked in the door. Told him he should have taken me with him. I would have happily kept him warm on the dessert rd
