It probably didn't help that the lady at the counter referred to it as a car - she gave me one of those windscreen things. I will go and see if they can trade it for a sticky one or give me something to stick it on with.

Failing that - a trip to get a holder...

    Thanks for the help, all!

I lost one to some frick'n thieves a while back, went in and voila. One free replacement rego plate holder.

Comes with a clear plastic slider to keep it all in and dry!
Follow up - went into the AA this morning where I got my rego and they gave me a free holder, just like gijoe1313 said they would.

Not often that you get something for nothing these days... well, I guess they did get my coupla hundred bucks...

Now all I have to do is attach it!!

    Well... no.
They're only agents, so they get a few shekels for their troubles, which is why they won't take credit cards, because then they lose money on the deal. Most of the money is for the ACC levy, and only about $23 or something for admin costs, of which AA gets ???
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I keep mine in my wallet and the last time I got plucked (there's that 111kph sin again) Mister Porky didn't even ask for it. There's positive policing for ya!

Hey, sorry for resurrecting an 11-month-old thread, but I've got the same problem. On my bike the previous owner had the rego stuck on the left side of the swingarm, I've just renewed the rego online but the one they sent me isn't the sticky kind. Am I able to just go into any LTNZ agent (AA, NZPost, On Road NZ, etc.) and ask for a new sticky tag?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Yep, you sure are! Ask for the type they use on trailers and boats.

Put it somewhere visible. I got a ticket pre Christmas parked in Welly city for not displaying my rego - $400. The rego was in one of those plastic things attached to the back of my rego plate and the useless twat that wrote the ticket didn't see it. LTNZ rules state that the rego must be displayed "on or near the number plate" for trailers and motorcycles. I had to muck around and write a letter to the WCC and wait for a repsonse etc to get off - a complete waste of everyone's time but since then I have shifted it to the other side of the number plate to save further hassle.
Why would anyone choose to drive a car!
