A plea for help - attaching rego

Hello,

Well, I've had my bike for a year yesterday and it has been great! We get on well, and go for fantastic rides together and commuting is a breeze (insert love-sick sighs )

Anyway - having had my bike for a year, it is now time to attach the new rego that I purchased last week. The previous one was put on by the dealer and is possibly glued in place.

Is this the best method? Any hints or helpful suggestions?

At the moment the rego is in my wallet in case I get stopped, but i think they can ticket a vehicle for not displaying valid rego even if it's parked, so I'd like to get it on there asap.

Do I need to buy some glue and if so, what kind??

My rego and warrent is in a plastic case which is screwed on .. I think you can get the cases at any bike shop ... happy to come over and help if you need it.

Yeah, my WOF is in a little plastic case that is bolted on but the rego seems to be stuck directly onto the back of the license plate under the WOF holder. Perhaps I should change to what you have.

I haven't done this in a year or so but I seem to recall that the label should come with a double sided sticky backing. If the old rego sticker is in good condition just put the new one on top of it. Otherwise scrape it off, clean the area, and put the new one in the same place.

If you haven't got the double sided backing just go to any place that does registration and ask for one.

The lovely lady at the Post Office counter can give you a clear adhesive patch to stick the rego on to your number plate/bodywork.

Pwalo's got it, any LTNZ agent should have the double sided sticky stuff.

The other option is a little alloy / plastic holder thingy that I'm pretty sure i got from the NZ Post outlet that they also use for trailers etc. It bolts to the bike and the rego sticker sits inside that and the clear plastic lid goes over the top.

Its a 15 min job if you have tins of assorted little bolts and a drill - which I do have and you are welcome to use or watch as i use..

Little plastic holders are available at K-Mart, Supercheap, Repco, etc. About $5-6. Easily bolted to your numberplate.

i have a plastic case too which has both the wof and rego in it got it at supercheap auto and will fit anywhere on the bike you want it

My rego was stuck on the back of the plate by the dealer. When I replaced it I got the double-sided sticky from NZ Post and just stuck it where the old one had been... but it started coming off! Luckily I noticed before I lost it altogether. The remedy was to give the back of the plate a really good clean with mineral turps or something. It seems to be hangin' in there fine now. (Makes mental note to actually check it is still there.)

same here, cept mine is some how attached to the back of the reflector. on the gn, it was on the license plate.

You can now also get a ticket for not displaying a warrant or rego from the council dog control officers!

Just go to the VTNZ, ask for a replacement rego holder for a bike and it's free! No charge. Zip. Nada.

I lost one to some frick'n thieves a while back, went in and voila. One free replacement rego plate holder.

Comes with a clear plastic slider to keep it all in and dry!
