Shell Advance SX4. That's what Suzuki were using during their servicing so I decided to stick with it. Seems ok.

I used Castrol GPS (after 6000kms) in both the SV650s that wifey has owned (K1 and K5). Seemed to do the trick...made an already slick gearbox just that much smoother

Smile Oil can be too slippery......

Many good quality mineral based oils work fine but require changing regular, oils with the various additves can offfer indifferent clutch performance (depending on what your doing with the bike).
Usually what the bike comes with as stock (in respect of the grade & type is very good - as the engineering & tolerance for the machine are based on this grade of oil, - beliwve it or not but oil can be "too slippery"

My Suzi franchise Dealer-Sportzone-recommended me ELF semi synthetic for my SV650s-seems fine. Interesting that another dealer said Shell! I think I will revert to Castrol next time, not thru any problem with ELF-just using what I know..
