    Question Speed Street 675

Does anyone know any more about the Triumph "Speed Street 675"?

I've seen a rather dodgey, shaky video online but to tell ya the truth the camera work was so shite it might as well have been a Speed Triple 1050.

The rumour mills imply a Summer '07 release in the US market, which by my reckoning is June/July 2007, yet there's been bugger all media to back it up... so what the frik is happening?

Hope that name's a working title only, cos it's gotta be "Speed Triple 675"... end of story.

Given the price of the D675's replacement fairings, trick lighting, and underseat exhaust I'd hope that it comes in at around the 14-15k mark to the D675's 18k... then they'd just fly out the door.

    From Raptors & Rockets
    http://raptorsandrockets.com/news.html

Fact 1: Triumph will add fuel injection to its entire retro parallel twin-motor range. The new fuel injection has now become necessary to tackle Euro 3 (oh how I am starting to hate that word as not only are the manufacturers forced to comply, but I have to use it in every bloody news article that I write…). Last I spoke to Triumph about this there were plans to design a sort of “dummy” carburettor to keep the classic looks.>>
Fact 2: There is a new Daytona 675 based Speed Triple. It has been seen in finished shape at the Triumph factory by one of our sources. My source could exclusively reveal that the new 675 based triple naked will get these Speed Triple design features: the famous double headlight and double stubby S3’ish high silencers. The new bike (it will not be called either Daytona or Speed Triple) will get a new name. When I have finished with the facts, I’ll give you our thoughts. Triumph’s new middleweight keeps suspension, brakes, chassis and the 675cc triple engine from the Daytona 675. But the 675 motor has been tweaked for even more midrange punch and slightly less top-end. Perhaps the best thing we have heard yet about the new middleweight is that it will retail at just above £5.300 in the UK putting it in direct competition (which in the 675’s case is really good…) with the likes of Honda’s CB600F Hornet and even the dead cheap Suzuki GSR600. Last fact about the new naked 675: The bike will be launched already in June/July and that could mean that it can hit the showrooms already in 2007! See our mock up of a naked 675 with a fly fairing rather than the double Speed Triple one here.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

interesting spman. i wonder if Triumph haven't let the cat of the bag yet, cos they're moving so many other models that they just don't have the space on the production line to release another model variant this year ('07)... maybe 2008...
    5300 quid... lets see that's NZ$14300 + GST = 16,087... hmmmmm

Sounds like the 'speed street' is an alternative name for the rumoured 675-engined speed triple. There was a discussion about it a while ago in the 675 test ride thread, which I can't find at the moment.

MCN had one of their 'factual' 'exclusives' with a still from some dodgy old video that they might just as well have said was elvis riding away from shooting jfk on his way to the fake moonlanding site.

They also had a photochop job as well that looked like the tail of a 675 wih the front of a speed triple - a bit different from that visordown job.

    EDIT: here's a thread with it http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...&highlight=675

DOUBLE EDIT: Finally found the thread. In pointless drivel. here.

As a side note, why did a thread which started off as a serious bike test write up end up in PD? If a mod would like to explain to me why a thread which at least started off serious, and which, while it did veer off topic, generally remained bike oriented, and which has loads of useful information in it, ended up in PD, I would be delighted to be enlightened.

They are making something, check out Triumph's website at the moment: "We've taken the genetic profile of our award winning Daytona 675 and the iconic Speed Triple and created a new breed of motorcycle" http://www.triumph.co.uk/streetTripl...spx?lang=en-gb

That is linked to from the frontpage.

Though I thought the 1050's appeal was that it was a tad-overpowered..?
