What's the point in owning it if I ain't gonna ride it, huh?

Third time lucky I hope as I've just bought a CBR150....yes, a 150 lol! I'ts just what I was looking for in terms of feeling in control cos it's small and light enough to get my feet down flat when I stall it etc. (eeek!). And it looks cool with the fairing.... Trouble is, I need coaxing to get out there and ride it cos I think up any excuse under the sun not to do it but I really really want to be riding! Is this normal?

Just go do it. It's probably just a lack of confidence cos its a new bike. The more you do it, the more you want to do it. Well, that's me anyway. Good luck.

Would you like someone to 'supervise' just til you feel more confident? Then once you do you can get on the road and be a little more confident there.... It is a gradual process... take small steps and you'll go far.

Yea I know you're right, I should just get out there and do it. I'd like to go on group rides but I'd hold everyone up. I go out with a friend occasionally except he's got a BMW 1200 and it's like...ho hum boring for him! I'd like to go out with other newbies who know exactly where I'm coming from and aren't ready for like, the Rimutakas or Pauatahanui hill!

It is normal for bored house executives who fill their existence with soaps and Coro Str...

Do you lack someone likeminded that you can ride with? And as much as riding for riding is brilliant, many times riding for a purpose is more fun. To races, to a get-to-gether, with a group of others travelling somewhere, to a bike museum, to the bike shop getting that part you have been saving up for. And when you travel there you tend to find new (longer) ways to get there. Also by having the right gear on makes it more fun. If you always get cold hands, the helmet feels like a bucket or the boots squeeze your toes, then its no fun.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Theres no rush. Learn at your pace.
Sunday afternoons etc are still reasonably quiet times in most areas of cities.
Theres probably new riders out around town doing the same. Enjoy, stay relaxed, but alert to your surroundings.
Before too long you will be helping others. It,s a never ending cycle.(no pun intended ).

see if there are any Ride Right coarses in your area and also some newbie group rides. Find a mentor there are heaps on this site.

Practise, relax, enjoy... basically it does sound like a confidance thing and once you get that confidance there will no stopping you...

    I hope you're not suggesting I'm a bored house executive...far from it matey-potaty!!!! Yes I need a mentor/like-minded person who won't make me feel stink if/when I stall or go 45km in a 50 area.
