    Question Forward controls

    Hello all,

Looking to get some forward controls for my bike, just wondering if anyone has any experience with ordering them from the USA or any advice generally. Are there any local places (Auckland) that stock any kind of forward control devices for metric cruisers?

If you do have them are they really a lot more comfortable?

    Thanks guys
    John

Forward controls give a nice cruisey look. I had some before but not on my current bike. I would get them again. Not sure the best place to source some from though.

The disadvantage to forward controls is that you are less connected to the bike. You can't put your weight through the pegs or stand up on them to lift yourself out of the saddle, like for going over really bad bumpy roads or up a gravel track. It also depends on how comfy your saddle is as well.

Go with the look that you want. Cruisers are for cruising not racing. Stuff everyone else, it's your ride.

Well that's my ten cents worth.

Both my lady and I have F/C's and wouldn't ride any other way now. Great for long distance. Try JP Cycles.com, I deal with them regularly now, no fuss, parts direct to your door for less than the same parts sourced locally.

Set up right, they are great; set up wrong, you get pains in all sorts of places you never knew you had ...

Good point. I made some minor adjustments to mine that made a heap of difference, even the style of peg is noticable. More recently, we stumbled across a guy on a Sporty who'd lost (yes, lost) his shifter. We loaned him the one of my lady's Sporty (which he duly returned with a 20 inside the package) but the point is; when we re-fitted the shifter it was actually in a better position for Paula's foot, yet she'd never realised there was a better position for it.

    Go figure..
I can only suggest that moving things around and fiddling with such equipment can make positive/negative impacts on your riding day. You won't know until you try.

They ain't much fun if you like to ride aggressively, or have to take evasive action.

Have a look at the forward controls on http://www.tcbroschoppers.com they seem to be very simple in design.

We don't tend to ride aggressively, the gearbox's on HD's really aren't up to much in the way of hard-out riding/shifting but neither of us have had any problems in tight situations. After a while your brain is in tune with the location of everything. It's just what you're used to I guess.

    Right over your head.

My comment had nothing to do with your brain tune, nor do I need to be schooled on the capabilities of a HD gearbox.

    Right over MY head???
    WTF?
I'm just trying to be helpful here buddy, there are two people in one house here who like F/C's and I'm trying to relate how we operate with them. If you can't grasp common decency, fuck off.

I'm surprised a Wanganui-ite has such an attitude, I know the place pretty well, lots of bikers there and like the place. Pull your head in man.
