So who else skived off for a ride yesterday?

Wasn't yesterday's weather something special? One of those spring days that creates hope that winter is finally behind us and which paints promises of warmer, finer weather to come. The lure of summer -- a summer like we have painted in our memories of childhood. Those carefree times when all that mattered was being happy and hanging with our mates.

I have sufficient resolve that allows me to resist most things -- with the exception of temptation. Yesterday's temptation was reorganising my afternoon's schedule and going for a wee ride over the hill with Mrs H (who happened to have the night off work).

I noted we were not the only bikers to have succumbed to such urges...

A yellow Ducati 999 and yellow Buell parked outside a cafe in Martinborough; A CBR600 and an R1 atop the 'takas and a procession of bikes heading in that direction on our return, including several taking on liquid refreshments at Caltex Rimutaka!

We eventually returned home after a short stint at Eastbourne watching the sun slowly set behind this wonderful city we are priviledged to call home, and a bite of dinner at Calzone (parked next to a mint Triumph Trident on the bike park outside Chez Trash).

    Hmmmmm. Roll on summer...

    Lucky bugger!

Obviously, if I "reorganise" my day so I can go for a ride, everyone here knows exactly what I'm doing and has exactly the same thought.

I think I know the Trident of which you speak. Very tasty.

Blue, with silver panels on the tank. 30-odd thousand km. Last serviced by a left-handed mechanic with blond hair...

    Yeah, that was me

You bet! That R1 was me, nice to meet you by the way... I ended up going over the Taka's 3 times. The 3rd time I had a close call with an unmarked police car. I was overtaking on that long straight, doing well, well over the speed limit, and I noticed that I shot past a "suspicious car". Got to the bottom, turned back, and caught up to that "suspicious car" and saw the two boxes in the back window, and the radio lights on the dash, and realised that it was an unmarked! So I was stuck behind it from the cafe on the hill, all the way to Wgtn cbd lol, so I had a very slow ride back home, wondering if he was going to stop and give me a ticket he must of had his radar off

    AAAARGH

    It's the same today, innit!!??

I'm on "lates" (9:00 - 5:30) this week, so there isn't even enough time for a daylight run after work.

It was heartbreaking this morning. I came through the tunnel, looked up at the sky, rode past my turn off and round the Basin Reserve twice, up Adelaide road, and then round the back to work. Sigh.

    15 minutes late, work.

I have no petrol money for the week.

Which means the train for the rest of the week.

Rang up Hutt Mana Energy Trust to find out where our cheque is and got told we should have it by the end of the month.

And we budgeted to have that money last month so our whole budget is up the spout, hence no petrol money as bills had to be paid instead.

Sold some stuff on trademe this week to get petrol money and try and pay for my fixed watch but, surprise (not), the money needs to go on bills.

    screw the you're all bastards....
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Wouldnt the bike be cheaper than train fare?

Been out everyday since I slapped the plastic back on and took my baby off the workbench.
Gazed up into the heavens yesterday morning and saw stars so decided to take her to work. Finished at 2pm. Beautin day. Shot home fed my furry children (cats that is) then shot over to Taupo for some MacDonalds. After doing a little business twas waiting at the lights along the main drag when a scruffy looking Maori fulla in a rooted Toyota goes, "Hey bro!!", impersonating someone winding the throttle. "My young fulla wanna hear your bike bro!" Shit, what's a KBer to do.
Gave a few high bursts then played a bit of a tune (boom... boom-boom-boom-boom... boom-boom). Got the thumbs up from the young kid (and the old man). Looked in my mirrors... a couple of cars behind me were not impressed. Jesus Christ! (sorry Zed) you just can't please everybody can ya!

Sorry, but that was my one good laugh for the day

Don't worry, if all goes to plan, Sat should be okay And I hear one part Vinegar, and two parts Olive Oil makes a good petrol alternative...

(Disclaimer - StoneChucker is not responsible for anyone who mixes vinegar and olive oil together, and tries to fill their tank...)

Not when you catch a ride with your father in law into town and you already have a train ticket for emergencies.

Oh that's really gotta suck. There's nothing worse than sitting on a train on a beautiful day with the bike parked up in the shed.

ANd good to meet you too. Next time we'll have time for a longer chat! Just as well your Cop friend wasn't around when I was trying to run Mrs H down. Caught her by Kaitoke Gardens, by the way. Had the brakes howling on a couple of corners...
