Not familiar with what chain's on your bike but try this:
Roll the chain out flat on the floor and push it sideways in the middle as far as it will go. Now push it the other way, if the side-play is similar both ways it's an indication that it didn't get too much of a tweak when it came off.
Look carefully at the links either side of the broken one, check for damage, if they look OK you may well get away with just putting in another joining link.
Bit of a worry though, if the chain was rated for that bike and in reasonable nick then it's unusual for the joining link to fail. Almost tempting to ask if it was fitted correctly. Make sure you use the correct one to replace it (same brand & grade) and if there's a spring clip make sure it's around the right way.
