Here's the other dude (another old fart) from Dunners. 2003 XLH 1200

Way to go Omega1. Lots of people would want to own one but usually figure they cost too much, or aren't flashy enough (wheelies, stoppies, pretty fairings etc) so opt for the ego booster crotch rockets. Then they bash them and crash them and whinge about how much bolt on plastic costs and when they get old and sensible they buy Harleys, or Beemers or even Ducs and very occassionally Guzzis
Basically but, what does it matter. It's whatever floats your boat on a sunny Sunday. As long as it's 2 wheels and the rider is smiling, all is well with the world. I've just started at a new place of work and there are 5 or so H-D owners. One guy has a 125 HP V-rod. Were a few H-D's plus 2 Ducs at the last place.
    Welcome to the madhouse.
If you start to feel out numbered check out Hawg-Rider's tech forum. Bunch of Kiwi's and Aussies even, swapping stories and pictures with the US dudes. If you want tune up tips head for nightrider.com.

    See you round. :spudwave:

Hi Omega 1 - hoping to catch up with you on either of your bikes before too long. But not in this shitty weather eh?

Been "away" for a few days and missed this thread, there are a heap of H-D riders out there but it seems like a lot are too shy to either (a) join this site or (b) too shy to publicly announce they own a Harley.

Welcome, like I said, there are two types of riders, those that own a Harley and those that want to own one, Yee effin' ha!!

My first HOG rally was an eye opener. Two types of people there. Bikers and Posers. I met one guy who flew from Wellytown to Chch, got a rental car and went to the rally. He even had his riding gear on. The other half are good guys like any rally. After a trip around the south Island I just gotta get back on a bike with balls.Cheers Toddy
Toddy you bastard!, Never knew you had a H-D, yup, the 'big-boys' ain't the fastest but are grouse cruisers, my 1200 'S' is the best compromise and I don't regret buying it for a second, handles well, stops good and with 5-speeds it's cheap as chips on fuel. (and it'll do 190\+ with two-up and all the rally gear on board - or so I'm told

Me too, wave to anybody, rmember, the bike YOU ride is the BEST bike regardless of breed, otherwise you wouldn't ride it, right?

I love my Sporty to pieces (and C.B. (Mrs S.D) only complains about it when it rains).
Sure, there are better handling bikes and faster ones too buy a 1200 'S' Sportster is IT for me. 'Course when the XN85 is going I may have a re-think.

Not good, can't get rear sprocket and the funny shaped section of zorst from the 4 into 1 up to the turbo is made of 'unobtanium', it's double walled and rusted through, yank site is organising stainless zorst systems made in pom-land but they metioned prices of around $1,000 - U.S.!!!!

So I just plod along doing what I can (and afford) but "one day Roger Phipps, one day" (quote from old t.v. ad)

So what happens when you run out of clearance. This is from America, they ride on the opposite side of the road, well, seems most do........
So who's the most worried? The guy cranked over or the guy coming the other way? Its one of those "what happens next" moments isnt it?

I guess that's why you let the full-dressers go up front, if THEY can get around the corner then it's a shoe-in for you.

Looks like the guy in the dresser is playing catch-up to the more nimble scoots, guy coming the other way looks like he's sussed all is not well
and is trying to keep wide (and looks like he is not going at quite the same pace)
