Yeah, OK, but you know what I mean. I grew up with metric and 6mm is easier than 1/4" unc/unf etc etc. For me anyway...

Must be a young dude, I have 6 metric spanners - and they're getting rusty.

Interesting reading the posts, I have a HD Road King Classic and an old Honda CBX. I bought the Harley after years of riding and racing mainly Jap sports bikes. It,s amusing when I hear sports bike riders bagging Harley's as over the years I have found that about 80% of sportsbike riders are 'straight line pilots'. If you dont believe me, next time you are at a gathering of bikes, check out the tyre wear.

So true, I lose all my races on the straights.

    'nother Harley owner

    Hi,

I've read a few of the piss-takes from the sportbikers about Harleys and wonder at the egos behind the comments.

Surely if you aspire to, own or have owned a Harley you have perfectly valid reasons for doing so, just as the rice-burners and euro's do? And who is to say one point of view is right and the other wrong?

For me its about the usual reasons, the mystique, the sound, the sheer pleasure of kicking back on the open road with my wideglide under me and my lady along for the ride. Its about the pride of taking something stock and making it my own with custom paint, chrome and perfomance add-ons. Is there any other make that is so highly customisable?

Our reasons are just as valid as those of every owner who is proud of his ride, regardless of what the make, model, style or colour.

    My 2c worth.

Hey welcome to the site Bruiser! Stick around, this is fun place to hang out!

Your 2c worth? - worth at least a couple of dollars! Well said - I reckon the sportbikers who make the loudest criticisms of cruisers (and Harleys in particular) have never ridden one.

I had my first Harley ride last weekend - a 2006 Dyna Street Bob - very nice!

Your Wideglide looks great - have you had it long?

My better half is also on the look-out for a 250 Virago........

    Hey Virago,

Just bought the lady a Virago 250 from local dealer ($3k down from $3,500 advertised). Would love to ride the new Wideglide, especially the 6-speed box - now THAT would work for me"!). I bought my wideglide in 2002 as a stock bike. Since then I have had it custom airbrushed and added about $15k of chrome and perfomance bits.....as you do lol.

I have just put together a website for Auckland riders who might wish to get out occasionally for a hit-out. www.randomriders.org.nz feel free to check it out.

    Regards,
    Bruiser

    Well said.

I like all things two wheeled, and can appreciate something cool no matter what wrapping it comes in. In fact the latest object of my sick lust is only 50cc..... but it might not happen yet.

All are welcome and with so many things in life, size doesn't matter .

My lady has just got herself a Virago 250 and is going thru her learner license right now, and looking for riding mates to share thrills and skills.

Hope to catch up with you over at Random Riders anyway.

Seriously, would be good to see more harley riders in here, to take the shit dealt out by sportsbikers. I doubt we'll get any more Beemer riders in here to soon to deal to that line of shit, but it'd be good for a strong contingent of the erm.... more heartily mocked bikers, to be present, to provide a different view and open the eyes of the rabid sports bikers. Though i see you have a ZX7R too Omega....
Yep, Well Spotted Posh Tourer, seems I have to give up my dual biker life so the ZX7's on trademe.I agree with your comments and I dont take the Harley ribbing crap to seriously each to their own
