Ok as it seems there are enough HD owners, I can ask a question and hopefully get a sensible answer......in the future I am looking at buying a Harley but not sure between DynaGlide (FXD or FXDX) or Softtail..most rides 1 up day trips but some with the wife and maybe a couple of longer trips planned..any thoughts and helpful opinions relevant to the question would be appreciated.....not interested in the buy a jap cruiser reply......

Never had much to do with the big Harleys but I would tend to head for a Dynaglide over a Softail - but that's just personal choice than a list of hard facts.

Thanks scumdog, they do look a damn sight better with a pair of V&H pipes which I may add one day but if thats the only thing wrong with it I can live with that. She should be arriving in the country on the 5th of Dec, just 20 more sleeps, I'm excited, can you tell.
I've been away but I'm coming back.

She probaly don't know it's not a Harley. Tell her it is, then she'll give up her left nipple. Wish I had one of those accessories for my scoot.

The Dynas handle far better, but the Softail can be set up a little more comfortably for touring.

Good to see there's some HD riders on this site although we seem to be outnumbered! I agree with someone else who said so long as its got 2 wheels thats all that matters..... BUUUUUuuttttt gotta say that HDs really do rock and I get fed up with Sport-bike riders slagging them. I know for a fact that they can be ridden just as hard and fast as a Jappa.... the difference is that it takes BALLS!

Take a look at the street rod. Pegs in a normal place and higher frame with a larger tank 18.9l as oposed to 14l on the vrod

    Tickets?
Seriously, crosswinds catching the disc wheels is about the only issue I know of.
That and the fact the diehard Harleyistas don't consider them Harleys.
But they're a bit one-eyed like that, eh Divot.

I do, regularly. But not for at least the last two minutes.

I can see why the "Harleyistas" don't like it. Apparently, it goes, it stops,
    and it handles.

Very strange behaviour, for a Harley.
