Thanks for your suggestions guys, off to bed now so I'm not too tired to ride tomorrow....

If your shy quiet little man Col, I'm a tea totalling, non smoker! Seriously welcome to the mad house. There's some bloody good sorts in the wellington KB family especially buck buck, Col here, Nasty and Grub just to name a few. Check out the events thread as theres always a good ride for all skill levels going on. Even if you meet a few of us at the after match just to talk shit, you'll get an idea of what we're like.

Going on lots of really short rides can help your confidence, if you are a bit nervous about getting out there.
Even if you just go for a ride around the block for 10 minutes or so, it gets you into the habit of saying "I'm going for a ride", and actually getting out there and doing it.
Another thing that really helped me when I was starting is to only focus on one or two things you want to improve when you go for a ride. You said you were nervous about stalling, maybe you could find an empty carpark, or some deserted suburban streets and practise lots of stopping and starting. You may like to take this a bit further, and when you do stall, practise getting the bike going as quickly as you can, so if you do stall in traffic, you will feel confident about getting the bike going again quickly, and it will seem like less of an ordeal.
Have fun out there!!![]()
You've answered your own question. If you don't want to ride it, sell it. You're clearly not a real biker.

I've got the perfect solution!!!!
You can have MY bike 'cos it's a head injured heap 'o shit and sits forlornly in the workshop awaiting ANOTHER repair and I'll have your bike. You get to point at "your" bike with the obvious escuse as to why you can't ride it while I get to ride something befits my lack of riding talent...it's a match made in heaven I tells ya!
My 2 cents worth....find ONE mentor and ride with them, just the two of you, for awhile. Group rides are very intimidating for total newbies, and can actually increase the dangers.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
