I was hoping the Portuguese Air Force would mistake the course for their bombing range.

It's like watching a weasel fossilize.

Got up at 7am on a public holiday just to watch. Don't understand the language but I enjoy it because when we're winning you get to enjoy that winning feeling it for soooooooo long before they actually cross the line! (Sort of like having a 10 minute orgasm ... well OK, perhaps not that good)

Yep I'm keeping the odd tab on what's going on. They have got the tv commentry about right. Pity the league could not do the same. Watched the first half of the Origin series. They need to sack those two Aussie announcers. Went to bed at half time. All I got was sreaming into the microphone.

I think it'd make a bit of difference to kiwis if the team was called "New Zealand" instead of Emirates Team New Zealand. Makes it seem all a bit far away.
By the way, what the hell do we have to do with the United Arab Emirates? Don't terrorists come from there? Are they even a democracy? We got teatowels, they wear teatowels, that's the only link.

Ahh, but if we win the AC, we will have the rugby world cup and the AC in the same year.

No "we" won't. My Bro-in-Law lives in Kuwait and spends a a lot of time in the UAE. There is no mention of NZ in any of the literature surround the Emirates involvement in the America's Cup, and none in the media. The America's Cup will be going to Dubai if "we" win.

We won't see it here and if our Government whinges our fuel will get expensive. The Emirates, quite rightly see this as their Cup bid and their boat. Who crews it is incidental. Crews can be bought.

UAE is a fucking good place! Many many dollars and they spend alot on Kiwis too. The company I work for is currently has 16 people working there with contracts the amount to millions of US dollars in payments to our firm and a few others.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them
