WGTN - (31/05/07) Wind, Be Careful

Be careful out there today guys, it's quite gusty.

I almost lost it on the motorway this morning, was cruising along at just over 100kph with no cars nearby and suddenly the bike was at what felt like a 45 degree angle (southbound just past ferry terminal)

I remember the days in old Wellers.... walking along featherston street and getting blown over.... people hanging onto traffic lights, umbrellas inside out, breifcases swinging wildly, skirts lifting (Well, they were right in front of me, how could I not see......!!).

Except that's what I was doing after the wind got at me, not before

oh and you mock me about the bloody big sails on my faired bike LOL - had no issues with the big gusts this morning or with the shifty winds this arvo on the way home.

Yep, by the concrete tank is probably the windiest part of welly for riding, bar the bottom end of featherston st.

Nice tailwind this morning allowing a comfortable cruising speed of around 140 without much throttle.

Yup, I was even out on the Welly motorway today.

That spot just before Aotea Quay turnoff is always dodgy - sent the RF sideways but its happened so many times you expect it.

    Apart from that no worries.

Just another one of those things that makes bikes so great.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
