Upcoming long weekend

It's just come to my attention that this coming weekend is a long weekend. Given that I'm an import with no life, aside from my bike.. and no local knowledge of where to ride, I'm looking for ideas and/or partners in crime for a weekend of bike debauchery. I'm in the Wellington area, but am willing to travel. Thoughts ?

If money no object..........throw the bike on the ferry and scoot down to nelson/greymouth/hokitika etc..........awsome trip.

South Island is certainly good riding. Ironically I'll be down there but can't join you because I'm all 3 days at a conference in Dunedin, geez no wonder I don't put too many kms on my bikes each year I'm hardly home.
