    Edelbrock heads

I bought myself a pair of Edelbrock Performer RPM heads a while back, got a Comp cams V-Thunder cam and a bunch of other shit for my Evo. Question is; has anyone else run these heads and what was the outcome? I'm not expecting (nor do I want) big HP, I just want some extra torque, which these heads will (should) provide. However, I like longevity in my bike, so if anyone has these heads....how are they holding up?

A friend of mine put these on his bike, plus piston and mild cam, and it made quite a difference. The stock heads are crap. You will notice the difference. And if you really want to let the engine breathe easy, get a Thunderheader - there is no better pipe to get extra low down and up omph outta an Evo - it really is an amazing pipe. Bog standard 1340s put out about 55hp. With the above, set up right, you should be over 80 or even 90hp - a very torquey 90hp. It's the easiest way to get more - you can't safely overbore 1990 engines as the cases are too weak.

By the way, mine was an FXR too, or rather, a 1990 FXLR. I have a few bits if you're interested - selling various parts on TM right now. If you're local, could even help you fix it up. I like FXRs ...

With my old eyes it looked like a 24 studder - a 8BA late model one too...

Hogan twin-plug heads were good - but blardy hard to get an' spensive too.
S'cuse the writting but a few bourbons to celebrate my being voted in as pres of the Hot Rod club has muffled my brains a tad.

Yeah? Which club would that be?

I was thinking more about the salt-racing engine. Now THERE'S a flatty.

Pleased to be able to contribute (even if I can't count)

Pic? If you mean the profile one, it was the Kaipara 200 last year coming off Muriwai. Living proof that I didn't fall off at every opportunity!

Back to the flatties.....there used to be locally made alloy heads as well, not twin spark and, as I recall, fairly porous castings but Nick Liefting always seemed to have a few lying around at the Greenlane speed shop in the late 70's. Unfortunately, being incredibly fervent smallblock fans we paid no attention to those old bits of crap......

Great wee things those small blocks. I screwed one together that runs consistent 7's, blown on alcohol.

Garth Hogan's old man used to meke them and I spoke to Garth last year before they set off to Bonneville. He's got solid billet heads now, really thick mothers that act like a heat sink.
