That'll be quite nice, once you get her all fixed up.
Thought you were having me on. You will have a heap of fun with that little beastie....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Bound to have more go than the 250 I was lent a while ago.....mind you, that was fun as well...redlining everywhere to keep up the appearance....

    Good stuff. Mr Jim2!
To be honest, I think it's a much better buy/bike than any of the other options you asked about, like the VF500 or that other 400.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Cool! Are you planning a trip up here then, just to "break it in". so to speak...

    Great choice of bike.
Grew up on GPZs and Katanas.
Rode a 1984 GS 650GZ for a short time and used to be fasinated by the local bike hero back then (a guy by the name of Paul 'Magoo' Hay) who used to tear up the town on his GSX 1100SZ.

    Enjoy.

Exactly - side shocks only look good with round headlights. Mono was way better.....Oh and dont get me started on those sexy integrated indicators and how sleek it looked with the light down.........fapfapfapfap

A very cool bike there Jim2!

(even if it has 3 more cylinders than a 400 needs)

You'll have fun swapping in either direction between bikes.

Picked it up today. Sounds like a 1960s F1 car.

Needs a decent Jim2 clean and groom and the front end rebuild.

    Looking for tyres now.

It's fun to have a rideable project.

Very nice Jim, this bike has the "et al" seal of approval, am impressed with the original condition - I imagine one would be very hard pressed to find a similar example. As for the styling: well it is different - at least you won't have to worry about too many people wanting to have sex with it!
    pretentious moi?

The brakes are bloody good, the clutch is lighter than a light thing, and the engine can actually pull from as low 3000rpm. Sounds wicked on the cam and it is sooooo smooth going down through the box.

Cosmetically challenged but thanks to crazefox the big things will be fixed in a couple of weeks (I really, really, really wish I hadn't tried to peel that sticker off the guard). May have to get the forks re-chromed - anyone know who does that in Wellington?

New Pirelli Sport Demon going on the back on Saturday. Sprockets OK, but I don't think the chain had EVER been lubed, let alone cleaned.

I will be pulling the rear of the bike to bits and painting the sub frames soonish too.

Do Cycleworks still rebuild shocks? I'm thinking of getting the rear shocks re-sprung and new oil. Interesting looking piggyback Showas with a valve on the bottom of the remote reservoir - anyone know what that's for?

I'd like an opinion on something now; the tank respray means new decals. Shall I redo it with two inch high letter spelling Suzuki (Red on one side White on the other - those crazy Japanese!), or shall I just get a two inch Katana symbol for each side? The white bit from the image below, minus the sword and the word Katana.

Incidentally one of the photos shows up the bubbled clear coat really well and makes it look worse than it is, thanks to the flash and long exposure.

Love the way they made a water cooled engine look air cooled.

Why the fuck can't Suzuki make a GSXR1000 powered on?

I'm sure they could if they wanted

They made the Katana 1100 right through to 1994 and then in 2001 made a run of 1100 (in number) bikes

I've also seen Katana 1200/1400 based on the Bandits?
