Seller's name's Jake - I emailed and got no reply so just phoned him and went straight round and had a look - just doesn't read email I guess. He's a good guy, just doing a project bike so selling the DR.
The previous owner apparently was an old guy with lots of bikes and a bit eccentric so spent lots on it but didn't ride it much. Jake painted it because he didn't like the yellow look (know what he means) just to personalise it a bit. Also painted the rims. Just likes working on bikes I think.
Apparently it can be taken back to original with thinners- all the stickers are underneath. It goes mint and sounds good with the RMZ450 pipe. He has all the original stuff - pipes etc plus some dual purpose tyres. If I was looking for more of a dirt-style adv bike I would have grabbed it but decided it was too similar to the XR (light and single) for what I'm wanting to do.
I think I just lost my marbles!
Decided my 2009 DR650 can now go to a new home for the stupidly low price of $7000!!!!!!
Be kinda nice to do the Xmas/New Year 5 day ride on my next bike!

A lot of those 2007 & 2008's have been there a long time. I think people are keeping their hands in their pockets.
I've had 4 offers to trade on my DRZ, but no one's fronted up with the cash. Oh well........it's not a big hardship having 2 bikes in the shed with summer coming up. Mrs Bart's new outdoor area is just going to have to wait (we were going to build a deck with the money from the sale)![]()
Yeah that's about how the sale of my car is going - lots of timewasting tyre kickers!
We'll see what happens when the bike goes on TM this weekend! If I wanted a DR650 as an adv bike and for $7k could have a 2009 with 14 months warranty left or a 2007 with no warranty at pretty much the same price, I know which one I would have!
I know the people who want a shiny commuter bike in mint condition they can just polish up in their shed every damn weekend and never see any gravel or dirt might not want mine as it certainly has a few character marks from being used as it was intended to be, but as an adv bike its a screamin deal at $7k for an '09 I think!
Cheers, Dave
It'll happen Paladin.
What new bike you gonna get? It's certainly been a season of bike swapping lately.
What should I ask for my 2006 DR650.
Its got 25-30,000ks. Reasonable order. Couple paint chips, a bend in oil cooler where it got wrapped around a KLX450 and seem mechanicaly sound. Yes it has been raced but due to dropping spark at a mere 7800rpm has not been thrashed enginewise. Only been on one adventure ride so has not sucked up heaps of dust or been through rivers.
3 sets of tyres, knoblies, adventure and road to fit standard rims.
Will probably sell the motard wheels seperately after or with the bike. It takes 25 mins to change from road to track wheels.
I am considering the sale because I bought the bike for adventure riding but havent realy got into it but am getting keen on racing so will look for a more race oriented bike.
