sorry, not me just now. Just placed an order with pat walsh designs for a luggage rack.
Did you win the venutra l brackets?

Was tempted by the pro moto billet rack from there though.

Early next year I will hopefully be buying a bigger tank though.

    advice on bolt removal please

    Hi All

I am trying to remove the grab handles on the DR650 so I can put on a luggage rack.
The rear ones are fine to remove.

The front ones, the ones that are allen key ones, seem to be locked solid. Any advice on getting them out, preferably without stuffing them as I need to reuse them.

I have squirted wd40 on them and will leave them over night and have another crack tomorrow.

Should I try an impact driver?
I don't have any way to heat them (heat gun or blow torch etc), not even sure that would be a good idea anyway.

Maybe I should just whisk the bike to the bike shop and see if they can remove them, as I am going to be buying the givi top box from them most likely. Seems like admitting defeat though

    Cheers in advance

They are big bolts so not easy to break, although possible. Mine did have blue (I think) loctite on them but I managed with a socket set (3/8 drive) that has a caphead allen drive. Hairdryer for the heat?

    The rust didn't help!

Thanks Dr650gary, just did that this morning, the socket set got the bolts moving. Maybe the wd40 helped as well, who knows, no time to do it now before work but at least I know I can get the bolts out. cheers!!

    Me too

I could also use a foot brake lever. Mine was bent and have straightened it but would like to either borrow or buy one so I can get my one exact.

    Thanks

    While everyone's doing 'wanted' stuff

DR650 cage thingy that the air filter wraps around. Mines running a K&N filter, but with dusty summer coming, I'd better throw a real air filter in.

    Will pay peanuts.

    Cheers.
