Welcome to the world of bike screens. One of the best ways to sort it out is make a screen of heavy cardboard and try that, then hack it off until you get it right. In my experience theyre best angled back, not vertical. The more vertical they are the more they tend to cause buffeting. Just look at the Bitching about KTM 990 and other screens an ADV rider. I rckon you just want it high enough to take the wind off your chest while leaving your helmet in clear air
My CCT is starting to leak as well. On my old engine I used gasket gunk.
ok ill try put up a photo 2moro, keeping in mind its a bit of a temp job at the moment just to try it out so the mounting brackets arnt too flash
I've got a small home made screen on mine. Helps a wee bit. I'll put up a pic later.
Thanks for the advice Nordie.
2007 done 20,000kms. The bottom screw was just past finger tight and undid without any pressure on the screwdriver, the top one was able to be removed with the clutch in place so that indicates just how soft the tightening was. Now replaced and locktited into place. Took it apart with the clutch in place but too tough getting it back without pulling the clutch out.
A small tip, cover or block the gallery entry point. Not an easy task getting a dropped screw out of the motor when it is on it's side.
Cheers
Hi DR Guru's
I am planning to remove the poxy headlight on the DR and replace is with a great big round one. Any tips on one to use? I will get rid of the tiny plastic cowling too.
Tip hints and tricks welcome.
Cheap or expensive?
Probably somewhere in the middle
Not Baja (or what ever) 1000 level, but no so cheap it isn't going to work LOL
So no help with the answer there - sorry nordie.
Was thinking about the buell mod (twin lights) but think the look of a big round headlight looks retro cool, and since the dr is more of a retro looking bike hehehehe no upgrades since the 80's , the round one is what I am after.
Unless all you wise heads say it just won't work,,,, then I might take the pig headed bastard route and try anyway!!
I assume at the very least I will need some new mounting brackets or something?
Find someone who has streetfightered an SV650 with the round headlight.
You can use it's mounting brackets as well...
