Very sharp price, best I get is $244 for the tank and $170 for the seat and that is plus freight AND in US dollars. Shame, you should have cleared the warehouse at the prices you got and made all the DR owners happy campers on this board.

    Good score, enjoy.

Imported a bigger tank from Just Tanks and included the Seat Concepts cover for the DR.

Here's a few pics showing the fitting - (pics are in reverse order!) - I ain't too much of a handyman but it wasn't too difficult and went together fairly easily.

The minor wrinkles at the upturn are something to do with the cutting in the factory - I could not pull them out without straining the stitching on the sides.

I have yet to fit the tank and pumper carb so can't say if it will be better but it sure as hell looks like it should be - note in the pic my mods for the stock seat - bore a few holes in the foam - helped a bit but the real problem is the width (as the actress said to the Bishop).

All up seat and IMS tank - $NZ317 delivered.
So you've had time to do 500km on it now, where's the ride report?

Enquiring minds want to know if it's money well spent.

    Cush drive rubbers

I seem to have alot of play in my rear sprocket. I checked against another DR and it had only 1/2 the amount of mine - but it had done 3 times the kms.

I have removed and checked the cush rubbers, they all look fine, no damage but they do drop out easily and have no resistance when fitting between the webs in the hub.

I think they may be worn out, hard to tell - anyone else had to change theirs? I'm just on 9000kms so it could be about right...

Suzuki NZ only have them ex - japan for $16 each plus GST (I need 6) or Procycle sell a set for under $40 US and I can also get a few extra farkles as well seeing as I'm ordering from them

What do you think? Or am I missing something else very obvious? Yes - the sprocket bolts are tight!

Procycle started stocking them after I ordered 2 sets.
I replaced mine at about 60,000km. They'd got pretty hard by then. They did make a difference to the smoothness.

Some in the States replace them every tyre change when there's half a mill or so of play. They're also the guys that leave the engine stock because "It's got plenty of power and the Suzuki engineers built it this way for a reason".

    Wow! 60,000kms!
My sprocket has a good 5mm of 'easy' play by hand after 9,000
The one I checked against had about half that at 30,000kms...

Then again, mine isnt stock and I have been known to ride less than gently, off road, at times...
It is suprising how a DR650 will run with a couple of new YZF450's on a trail ride, no matter how hard they tried to shake me...

I think "scaring the normal people" is what the suzuki engineers REALLY wanted me to do with it!

Whilst ordering from Procycle, I think a few suspension mods may be needed though... and I'll put off the flatslide for a while.

gav, check the bearing in the sprocket carrier,it may be worn,as it gets hell if you run with the chain too tight, also the cush rubbers just sit in their location and have a bit of slop from new.i'v had two '07 drs and both had play ,felt about the same @9000kms

Thanks, did wonder about how effective just the rubbers would be in taking up the slack. I'll get in there and give it all a good clean and check the bearing for play...

Too damned cold to ride far down this way at the moe - but - the short burst I have had on it, complete with SSteel brake hose, pumper carb, IMS tank and reworked seat says I won't be taking it off again... ever. Very sweet and nearly as good as my partner's ass - whoops seat!

Time will tell whether the stitching and materials will withstand the outdoors but for the moment it is as comfy as a Corbin.

I have had some issues with the rear mounting brackets - the IMS tank sits slightly further to the rear and consequently the brackets won't fit without modding ....

Sounds very tempting, my seat definately needs some attention and I think if I try and rebuild it myself it will end up worse than when I started.

I had the same issue when fitting my IMS, I had to remove the brackets and elongate the bracket holes by 5-6mm.
