    Yeah motoradical said similar too. i ran dry going into oamaru from chch . choke plunger was dry and dirty, so now wondering if it wasn't shutting properly and causing it to run bit rich. lifted needle one notch before putting it back in too.

    What a difference! short blat yesterday thru the chch swamp.
    engine smoother, alot less chain slap, more grunt down low.
    Took off ignition retarder? on carb too.
    Noticed I need more choke to start , so stuck choke theory may have been right

    BST40 and DJ Kit

    Nordie or some one. Trying to install DJ kit but instructions are a bit cofusing. Have put in the new main jet and extended air screw thingy but when it comes to the needle I need help. Do I modify the white washer so that it has one flat side and if so into which groove would you recomend the cilp goes? Put this on ADV but thought local knowledge might be better. cheeers

    Remove the white spacer. Not for use with the DJ kit.
    What muffler are you running and have you opened up the top of the airbox?

    Basically ignore the DJ instructions as to jet size too.
    Far too rich.

    Magnum Noel - just fitted a ProCircuit pipe and DJ kit - removed snorkel and opened airbox somewhat - gave this task to Don Treloar of Motorcycle Maintenance in Stokes Valley - I was happy from him to do the task for me and I'm pleased with the result - yet to establish the impact on fuel consumption - cheers Aslan aka Stephen O

    Nordie just the OEM exhaust. Have put in the DJ 155 main jet. What do you think?

    Cheers for that but on a tight budget and can't afford different pipe or third party mechanic. Look forward to a heads up on fuel consumption/

    3rd clip from top?

    I'd be tempted to use the 150 main (same as stock) if the air box only has the snorkel removed.

    My loud CRF muffler for the DR is on trade me. Make an offer if you think it might suit you. I can`t sneek home with it on , it wakes the Mrs up.

    An inmate here "cobber' who lurks a bit but doesn't post much (probly out riding) purchased his brand new DR650 9 years and 4 months ago and took this pic to celebrate a milestone.

    Thanks Nordie have cut the airbox but can't get back down to garage because of baby sitting duty. Man did I have trouble getting the carb back inplace. Will report back.
